I reckon the Cats will bring in another cheap ruck from the state leagues to ensure we have coverage ... although I reckon Neale has a chance at playing a game or two. Looked to be a big lump of a lad with reasonable hands and some aggression (which we really haven't had in quite some time).

You're likely right, Atkins and Close will probably be upgraded. And it would be fair enough, too. Reward for effort, they have entrenched themselves in the best 22 and deserve a main list spot.

But the obvious solution to the problem is to just, not do this... We'll have more retirements next year, so the whole problem can be alleviated by just delaying this call for a year which would better align with our list profile.

Like I said, in the end you are probably right. But there's a really simple solution for example if we have 4 picks in the top 40 and only 3 list spots - just keep one/both of Atkins and Close on the rookie list until next year. And if it comes to that i'm sure the club will do it rather than upgrade both as a matter of principle.

I agree..i think its more about the principle (based on past cases this seems to be our approach) plus in close case making sure no other club poaches him. If it was about pure list numbers youd wait until end 22 to elevate them as we will have more retirements then.

Given we might be short on senior list spots but will have rookie spots open this is likely i think.

I agree..its just a matter of whether we trade in a ruck or we take a mature state leaguer at the rookie draft but we would have to bring in an insurance ruck..we need blicavs in defence and neale isnt ready.

With hendo and kreuger one blitz will have to be back he cant go 1st ruck unless we trade in a kpd.

The issue with sav rucking is his endurance.

Pass. We've already kept Narkle who at least showed some upside. Constable was miles off our finals team despite injuries. Time to move on.

He was never used as a genuine key defender he played as the loose interceptor for a handful of games and hasnt done it at all in 4 years on a list, would be a very questionable recruitment if we are holding our hopes on him holding down a key post down back.
