I don't mind Blicavs in the ruck but wouldn't want to be relying on him and would prefer to not really see Ratugolea in the ruck unless they put VFL ruck time into him to help him develop that side of his game

if Fort goes then I'm still keen on saying cya to Stanley and running with Sav as a full time ruck until our younger guys are ready. Given the burden of being the #1 ruck it'll either make or break Sav anyway. I'd rather take that punt than stick with Stanley for another year.

What about Caleb Marchbank from the Blues as a key defensive option? 24, and can’t get in their team with Weitering and Jones settled in the 2 key defensive roles.

I don't think he can play on the gorilla forwards. He is more a Lever type. In fact he would be similar to Jack Henry, if people think we can play Henry elsewhere. Though I think Henry is best as a third tall defender.

What about Jeremy Finlayson, I think available for a future 3rd pick. We could offer 30, 2022r2 for Finlayson and pick 13. If 13 is too high, we could get 21 instead if GWS swap 13 for 21,24 with hawthorn.

For what purpose? He is a forward, and is a similar style of forward as Jezza. Not required I reckon.

Agree that we are very thin for KPD’s. Talia is about to turn 30 and didn’t play this year due to knee/foot issues. Brander I don’t rate at all. Neither of these guys are the answer! Find me someone else with a view to the long term.

Just Sav in the ruck alone? Why do you hate our defenders so much? We would be pounded in the clearances for 3 quarters

None of SDK, Kolodjashnij, Henry or Stewart have shown their capable of playing on opposition forwards like the King twins, Dixon, Harry McKay, Walker etc

I want to see SDK getting games next season but at this stage I don't know if he's ready to be carrying the load as our FB

An experienced tall defender would be good insurance

You can’t have a list with 2 key defenders on a list of 44. One of which has played 1 game and the other is a better wing/2nd ruck and can’t lock on for his life. It’s negligence of the highest order and I’ll almost guarantee the club won’t make that mistake.

Anybody behind Sam Frost is a no for me.

Sam Frost had a pretty decent year, he is quick, and took a few marks. Though, I don't know how many he conceded. Not the best, not the worst. But yeah, Hartley is pretty average.

Bulldogs Lewis Young mentioned to be meeting opposition clubs and article mentioned Geelong might be an option.

I don't mind him, he has the size and ready to go with plenty years ahead. But wasn't Gardner (our reject) put ahead of him in the Prelim? That may say enough... Sounds a bit desperate if we get him.

We saw this year that when Ratugolea was selected as our starting ruck that it was ultimately Blicavs carrying the ruck in those games as Ratugolea was unable to compete as the #1 ruck at AFL level across a full match

If the club wants to turn him into a ruck then play him in that role in the VFL for at least half the season to see if it's something he can maybe learn, because at this stage he hasn't shown anything close to suggesting he's ready to carry the load as the #1 ruck

Needs to be a Full Forward. But even still I have my doubts. But what do you do... If the trade value was a first round draft pick I'd take it... but its not.

Struggles to read the game as a forward, would be a disaster in defence where you need 2 key skills, reading the play and marking. No doubt he can mark but a forward like Franklin would have a field day on him.

If we let Esava go, you could bring in Mason Cox as a direct replacement, he is a good pinch hit ruck/marking forward and when the Pies beat the Tigers in 2018 it was off his marking game up the wing. Reads the play better but wouldn't want Cox because he is currently 30.

Honestly would rather next year Sav gets a whole year in the VFL and plays strictly key forward, work on his goal kicking and work on reading the play. He has terrible forward awareness and literally is only useful if the ball is kicked long and high for him to fly at, or if it hits him on a direct lead/ground ball get in a pack.

I see both sides of it. None of the tradeable in options would i give up a high pick for.
A couple id be keen on for later picks like lynch.
And id like us to have 2-3 picks inside 35.
But if we go into next year with 31yo stanley sav neale and tsapa as our only rucks and blitz dek henry and kolo as our only tall backs thats stupid imo-one injury and we are in real trouble.
Maybe we add a couple of mature talls as rookies so it doesnt compromise our main draft picks but id be surprised if we dont reinforce those areas in some form.
