Try as I might I can't begrudge him here. An extra year on little more money to move or stay and push for his spot, end of the day is at an age he only has to play decently and can gamble on moving OOC in a year. Not to mention if you own a place on the GC at the moment you're probably living the life of Riley, compared to a two year gamble relocating potentially a young family to a state overrun with covid and locked down still (sure, it'll be open by next season but it's not the Ritz).

That means either CCJ is turning down 2 more years as well as gametime, or Richmond are doing an almighty backflip.

Think either scenario is unlikely.


I think Richmond are still dirty on Dusty's re-signing on a fatter contract than they wanted (despite the 'turned millions down' narrative).

Throw in the fact they've gotten guys like Prestia and Lynch for bugger all and they're throwing the toys out of the cot when they don't get their way.

You can't offer only 2 years and expect pick 20.

I don't understand how you play harball over a young KPP, then go out and bring in a 33 year old KPP.

Odd list management by them.

It's a possibility, I guess we know first hand about players having a late change of mind. But in this case his situation at Richmond won't change and I doubt that they will throw him 4 year deal. And if they are being arsehats about a trade then it'll likely reinforce to him that his decision was correct.
