It is good Collingwood have 22 and WB have 23… means 26 and 28 will hold their position (i.e. two less players will be taken before those picks).

Here's my prediction (based on my deduction only)- we will try to move up as far as we can in the draft with pick swaps but if they don't happen we wont care. We think we can get some very good players with our current first 4-5 picks. We are looking at NGA players as "smokies". That's why we want pick 20 from Norf - that is the last pick to bid on an NGA player with the team being able to match.

I think that may be incorrect as pick 20 would be pushed to 22 after matched bids.

Are you willing to trade our future first for 17? Cause that’s what it’s ended up costing. We don’t even know what Freo are giving up for 19 yet but one component is the salary dump that Brodie represents.

Doesn’t make sense to me. Port have Dixon, Marshall and Georgiades. They don’t need another tall forward as Georgiades couldn’t even get a game in the PF. So unless Finlayson or Marshall are planned to play KPD I don’t get this acquisition at all. Weird.

I get people saying that it's an even draft. But what are we going to do now with the four picks that potentially we will have from 38 onwards now that 17 is off the table? We could have easily matched and bettered the dogs deal. Either they have something cooking for those picks already or they have made things a hell of a lot harder for themselves. Have to say I'm am pretty disappointed at the moment.

Our late picks are all inside 50. There will be more than 50 players drafted. Ergo, there will be a buyer for our picks.

Adelaide now only has 4, 33, 75. They're rebuilding, they will want more picks. Carlton will lose 6 for Cerra and possibly 25, then only have 64. Etc. etc.

We've had our strongest draft hand in years and had 2 opportunities to capitilise with clubs who need points in Collingwood and Bulldogs.

You can cut it any way you want and say "wait until the end" but not getting pick 17 for backend picks is a failure.

Being passive gets you nowhere.

The Dees never fail to work their way into the draft.

They gave up next year's first pick for it though .

Correct. Both might be affordable. Then maybe Brissy might do next years first for 2 x 20's picks given they have a high pick F/S coming next year.

I was desperate for either pick 17 or 19 and I know it looks like the club is sitting on their hands but I am 100% confident they are not. Who knows, we may end up trading those picks to the Lions for their first rounder next year because they have young Ashcroft coming through. Bundle them up with some future picks next year to get them points. Or could we unlock the Dawson deal with our pick 15, so do 7 & 15 for Adelaide's 4. Just a thought, i'm sure our team is working on something. I have faith.

Spot on. This board has tunnel vision. Plenty of action to be had outside of Dogs and GCS pick. Blue will be desperate for draft picks if it’s looking like they only have 64.

Active clubs grabbed the pies 1st and GCS end of 1st for **** all while we were “happy” to take our picks to the draft… then we traded it out on the day which suggests we weren’t that fussed on taking it to the draft rather we were too risk adverse to use it when it might of got us something good.

Rather than suggesting the club are all over this, simply accept our team are overly risk adverse and will take what we have to the draft and probably accept mediocre trades on the night.

you do know getting 'beaten to the punch' just means we were outbid yeah? If you're buying a house and have a budget of $700k (ie the house is worth taking on a mortgage of $700k) and someone comes in and bids $800k, you don't go and try and top that, you just walk away. Yeah ideally the other party wouldn't have bid and you'd get it for good value, but it's bad list management to pay overs if we don't consider it worth it.
