I heard a couple of months back. And yes, that was the reason. Guys on lists didn't get a chance to play.
Not sure if they actually went through with it. I don't follow this stuff.

Im not 100% sure .

Some players came into the AFL system and done well last year.

But a short season VFL has hurt others in development.

Found this one interesting from the main board:

"On the Hard Ball Gets podcast today. Clark has already moved boxes of his stuff back to Perth and his car is on a train. He has not enjoyed his time at Geelong and it’s too far gone. Even if he’s contracted, he ain’t going back. He’ll sit a year out."

If any of that is remotely true, then we'll definitely be well rid of Clark - as that would be a pretty petulant attitude to have.

Not gonna lie...getting pretty tired of these WA draftees...different breed over there these days

4.5 minutes from the end.

F*ck me... so it's all posturing on our part then, if that's the case. Gone either way, and if it's true and he has that attitude, he can seriously get f*cked.

Was so stoked in 2018 as he was the pick I wanted, and his first year he was projecting as a generational talent. Since then, he's had injuries and has just stagnated badly. Now there's this talk about his attitude and he's already packed his bags and on his way home? I've defended him to the hilt, but this would be indefensible, and really I'd tell him not to let the door hit him on the way out.

So disappointing, and I reiterate, I'm starting to get really tired of WA footballers that have been drafted in recent years. Can't touch any of their players, and if you do, they'll chase them the moment they're drafted and make it a pointless exercise. First TK and now this... ugh...so done with WA.

Good luck with this one Freo. Another attitudinal problematic footballer who'll probably achieve nothing at your club - see Hogan, McCarthy, Bennell, in recent years. Take Pick 22 and run.

Yeah that’s a hollow threat if I’ve ever seen one.

From all appearances Clark seems a self entitled brat who believes everything should be handed to him. He doesn’t like to work hard so spending a year in basic isolation from a professional football department would mark the end of his career in my opinion.

McLachen named in the VFL team of th e year.

Hope we give him ago.

Stengle and him .
Mozzy fleet in the forward line .
Another small forward who doesn't kick goals. Pass

Hated Scarlett to the point it completely destroyed his relationship with the club. Scarlett is a complete prick though and should never have been a coach.

Nice reading the last 30 pages on Clark and Ceglar

but what are we doing for another KPD?

Im not sure how that would affect our cap..or if he even would have to be paid. Id hope its not as absolute as that or in 12 months time we will lose another promising black swan.

However...if there is any truth to his inamicable relationship with Scarlett and therefore club.. and this is the apparent result...it probably is not just a WA thing. Its more than modern young player thing. Thats not to say all WA players or young players are the same but we hear it over and over young players cant be treated like they were years ago... and this is part of the reason. The players have a lot more power where they play or stay. I wonder when he signed the extension, and when things changed.

The club will know the situation and try to weave thru what is best, short term and long term. If we want to keep picking players that are non Falcons (almost a must) then we must expect that some will want to move (home) if they are not happy, and these days..it seems all a young kids needs is some talent not to be given best 22 acceptance and they will want out. Sometimes even if they are best22. Flip it Freos way, I doubt they would like losing Cerra, its sort of like losing Corey before we have our best side up and going.

Maybe they should put a great priority on WA talent if its reasonably, and we should do the same with Vic County kids. The 2018 draft where the first 5 picks were non vic selections (Fort was playing sa) is not looking that good now. Is that all a non vic issue, is it a talent issue, is it an opportunity issue , is it a lack of development due to covid issue ...

On trade radio yesterday ..I heard them srout the idea that Ceglar was in the ruck and Stanley plays as KPD.
That's a bad idea. Anyone remember gawn kicking that goal with Stanley 'defending'. Was a shocking defender at St Kilda. Best best is to have blicavs, kolo, SDK as tall defenders with Henry playing tall as required as he played on naughton earlier in the year.

Krueger leaving and then Geelong getting Ceglar as a ruck and turning Stanley into a defender would be extremely poor list management and won't happen

Its not the approach id take but then I'm not a paid expert warbling on about the merits of Ceglar for geelong. It would take away one of Stanleys attributes which is mobility and place emphasis on one of his weaknesses. If he was going to become a key defender..I think it would have happened before now.

but what are we doing for another KPD?
Henry and Kolo will be our main KPDs going forward with Blitz helping out as needed depending on opposition setups and taking the 200cm talls.

Kolo plays a lot better as a lock down on talls than smalls IMO and should be bulking up and looking to fill Hendos role.

Also hope that SDK gets 10-12 games of development maybe more if he performs well.

And if that is true we have Freo over a barrel. They know they have to trade for him. They’ve promised him 4 years. They’ve effectively said they’ll do what it takes to get him. Wells/Mackie are best holding off. Clark and his manager will get anxious and they’ll eventually blink.

Confirmation that the Dockers are really happy to follow in the footsteps of quality outfits like GWS at the trade table...

That’s great. Looking forward to Clark having a great year with us next year and increasing his trade value.

Never heard of a player sitting out for a year, that means he doesn’t get paid. Not sure that is going to happen.

Cam McCarthy did due to mental health reasons when a trade back (ironically) to Freo didn’t go through. Was never a player after that. Freo would be fools to allow this to happen again. I’d say the AFL would tap them on the shoulder and tell them to cough up.

That just sounds untrue to me. It's never come across as a homesickness thing with Clark, just about playing and playing where he wants to play. And if he was really so intent on burning bridges why would him and his manager be going with this half trade request where they've by no means publicly said it's Freo or nothing?

Geelong being Geelong, I think it's just as likely that you can look forward to a seriously melty universe on here when the Cats end up accepting some variation on pure P22.
