Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

We don't have problems with cap space. That was clearly Collingwood's problem and they were forced to tip out Treloar, Stephenson and Bosenavulagi. We haven't traded at all. How can we possibly be a laughing stock?
Well at least Collingwood had a reason for what they did. They were laughed at because they got themselves into that situation.

How would we rate our trade period of the only changes were:

- lose TOB for nothing
- turn Ceglar into Lynch

Not through lack of trying, but I'd deem that as a fail
Can you imagine if at the end of the trade period our list is worse and we haven't garnered any decent additional picks!? Oh boy wowee...

Nice of Rendell to say he would cut some slack to Mitch Georgiadis for not laying 1 tackle in the prelim.

I mean, Georgiadis didn't play in the prelim....but kind of Rendell all the same

Seriously, how does this guy get air time? Not only are his opinions bad, but what is worse is that he is obviously ill prepared and does no research

Our list isn’t worse for O’Brien dropping off it. Opens up space for another youngster on less money who could become a genuine best 22 regular.

I wonder what the bookies were paying for this Hawthorn trade period to net 0 players in and 0 pick swaps? Of all years too, when I think a lot of us were anticipating a pretty serious list overhaul.

I know things could still happen but they could easily play out like the Wingard saga today too.

PS. I'm aware we can still do pick swaps after trade week ends.

You think we have no good young players and Wingard Mitchell and O’Meara aren’t worth first round picks
We did draw with the Premiers and beat the Runners Up comfortably

Also managed to lose to the entire bottom 10 except for Collingwood.

Adelaide and Collingwood beat Melbourne this year.

Can't get sucked in by good patches or games. Every team has them, including bad teams. The results over 3 seasons speak for themselves.

Sammy had seen enough of Cegs and he wants to wipe the plate clean - love his work. Sammy and MM doing their best to clean up the mess left by Clarkson and GW. Appreciate and love Clarko for everything he has done but he set us back years by going top up in 2016. Cost us dearly …
Which we would have been negligent not to pursue at the time given the list profile, what we were shooting for, and the free agents we thought we’d get. Cmon man, we all backed it, the club backed it and it didn’t work. No need for this revisionism.

David King was pretty spot on excluding the 8 year rebuild article heading

“Sam Mitchell should be able to walk into this football club and say look, I want to purge some of these players, let’s see if we can get X, Y and Z. Hopefully you get some picks in the 20s and can start the rebuild instantly. But because we allow the players to hold full control, this list is on hold.

“It’ll be a five or six-year rebuild because of the way we design this, and I don’t even know if it suits the player.

“I don’t know if it’s great for Gunston to finish this way, or Tom Mitchell to go through four years of what, just playing good footy that has no consequence, when they’ve got more to offer?”

King argued the players themselves would be better off accepting trades to try and win a premiership, knowing that shapes as very unlikely at Hawthorn in the coming years, and that going hard this year would be better for the Hawks, too.

“What are you about (as a club)? You’re about winning premierships,” he said.

“The club’s there to set up to win the next flag; you’re not gonna get anything for these guys if you fire sale them like that, probably, but the clubs have to have control.

“This is the old argument about whether you’re able to trade players in contract, and if you are, what does it do? I’ll tell you what it does; it brings an eight-year rebuild back to about four if you get it right.”

Not sure what's actually wrong with anything said

How about instead of lamenting the fact that our older players with the most currency don't want to leave we look at the bright side...

Our older players who have no guarantee they'll be around for our next premiership are genuinely excited for the new direction of the club and want to stick around despite having the opportunity to leave.

That speaks volumes to the energy and culture of the group we have. I'd hate to see the club undermine that by trying to push quality players who have already bought into what is being built.

The rebuild needs fast tracking with a Tassie team likely in the next few years, Gold Coast still not improving to the extent the AFL want, Sydney’s academy etc etc
This could well and truly blow out to 8 years if we don’t get in some elite young talent in the next few years.

Great now you are quoting David King and like him you really know you stuff -

he's got such an amazing track record on all things to do with football and his eyes are perfectly placed on his head.
