Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

How do we access these draft picks, with all of these mature players in their prime ensuring we don't bottom out?

Young core of our premierships from 2008: Hodge, Lewis, Roughhead, Cyril, Mitchell, Franklin, Birchall

Young core in 2021: Day, Scrimshaw, DGB, Worpel(even with him I'm unsure if we can be elite or just a good player who peaked).

Next two drafts have to take at least 3 top 10's to build midfield, so bottoming out, may not be such a bad thing to get these picks and games into youngsters.

we had bottomed out this year until we flicked a switch AGAIN and saved ourselves from bottoming out AGAIN

I don't think there is such a fact.

I think there is something a 'journalist' said...which I strongly suspect is NOT a fact...based on the way Hawthorn do things

Which is to ask Breust FIRST...and then, if he says yes, organise a deal.
Sam's outlined this week that we'd be open to clubs offers, talk them through, and present to players if we thought they were serious enough to consider.

Why would you spend hours haggling over a deal if you don't know if the player would accept to move in the first place?

Yeah, the process seems very simple and straightforward, but the journalists can report on it with completely different interpretations.

Club comes to us with a reasonable ballpark offer for contracted player, we tell player, as is both our right, and responsibility to the player, player says no...story over.

We are completely fine that we have done the right thing by everyone.

But the media report says "Hawks want player out, but player refuses" Even the snippet above, with subtle language "Hawks happy to trade Breust" ...one implication being we will now be 'unhappy' that Breust 'refused'

Same facts, completely different connotations...

Why would you ask a player if he's willing to go to another club, when you don't know how serious the offer is?

Imagine if a player like Breust said yes, and then Giants played the "he wants out, we're not giving you the pick you desire, we'll give you something less".

The club has to filter the bullshit offers out before discussing any potential move with a player.

Wow imagine those conversations. Hopefully from all of this talk this trade period we see a spirited side next year with some real passion for the guernsey .

The ultimate troll from Punky there to shove it up the Bombers. That just makes this even better knowing they won’t get their hands on Hill because of Hawthorn

All our senior players want to stay when they could get better financial deals, better security or a more realistic chance at a Premiership elsewhere. Hopefully this suggests they've bought into Sam's vision and we see that passion next year.

While I'm extremely happy these guys want to stay, this was probably the last chance we were going to get anything close to acceptable value. So if the passion isn't there we'll be in a bit of strife.

Thank **** for that! I am all for rebuilding, but not Breust......

Cal Twomey has revealed Greater Western Sydney tried and failed to extricate a player out of Hawthorn for the second time this Trade Period with veteran goalsneak Luke Breust rejecting a last-ditch bid to move to the club.

I'm looking forward, as I have for a few years, to Breust kicking his 500th goal as Hawthorn small forward, and placing himself in the table of all-time great, one-club, small forwards.

All we really know is that GWS wanted Wingard or Bruest and neither wanted to move to Western Sydney and play for the Giants.

I don't think there has been any other realistic offers for our players outside of the above?

The lack of reported interest in Mitchell and O'Meara is a bit surprising and annoying to be honest. Dees would be laughing.

Breust already had two years left on his contract and gws don’t have cap room (sounds like hawks may have paid some salary). Other then maybe a 3rd year what was the incentive to Breust as doesn’t sound like much of a financial incentive?

Chad made a bit more sense as only 1 year left and 2 years younger so could have offered more certainty than with us.

I also like how Barrett has changed the narrative from Hawthorn having a 'firesale' to 'we've overcooked the value.' You can't make this sh*t up.
It's beyond appalling.

I suppose it's easier than admitting to yourself "Gee, I guess I was full of shit this whole time"
