Wouldn't surprise me at all but regardless if it's money tactics every single father son always says they're undecided this far out. Pretty sure Nick Daicos said he loved Gold Coast's pitch and seriously considered nominating for the draft but I doubt he ever really did. I don't think it was locked in that he would definitively go to the Pies until August.

I'll be upset if Ashcroft chooses to nominate the draft but I don't see why he would. Comes straight to a top 4 club, with an environment and coaching staff with which he's familiar, plus a young list that should be well placed for an extended finals tilt. We also have a few midfielders on the other side of 30 which means there will soon be spots up for grab and potentially a chance to play finals early in his career.

Is this just the lingering impact of Marc Murphy passing on us that has us a bit spooked? Until that dumb article came out everyone was really confident he was a sure thing.

Hard to know . The part about him being at uni. and living in Melbourne resonated with me as far as teenagers go.

The thing is he and his dad will likely know already whether he wants to come to Brisbane under father/son. They've had time to suss it out.

So unless we get some inside intell. it's just a matter of waiting it out.

It's a big decision for a young man and is eerily reminiscent of the Murphy situation except the club was on the way down then and it's hard not to think we're on the way up.

Either way he's obviously an extreme talent and whatever he decides is the choice he's entitled to take.

It isn't a matter of him choosing Brisbane or Victoria, it's a matter of him choosing Brisbane or one of the bottom few teams. The bottom few are no guarantee to be Victorian either.

Haha! I'm not worried though - the media will get mileage out of it despite behind closed doors he is as good as a lock. In fact, I'd go as far as to say if he could have been drafted last year he would have nominated Brisbane and would be facing Port.

Dayne Zorko and Harris Andrews return as captain and vice-captain and will be supported by another six returning players to an eight-man leadership group.

Returning to the group are 2021 All Australian Daniel Rich, defensive stalwarts Darcy Gardiner and Ryan Lester, champion midfielder Lachie Neale and his best mate and forward line general Linc McCarthy and emerging champion Hugh McCluggage.

Daly said the captain and vice-captain positions were unanimous while the returning six players were all exemplary characters who led by an example both on and off the field.

“Dayne and Harris were lay down misere’s which is no surprise as they are exceptional leaders of our footy Club,’’ he said.

“Leadership is critical to our success, and it is something we want the players to take ownership of.

I think that was Fagan wasn't it.

They might have to call time out if someone needs to decide something quickly on the field. And get a consensus from the Board.

Everyone understood that, thus the smirk and sarcasm even though two were streamlined an eight man leadership group still is a bit of a joke.
The only surprising element in the announcement is we did not go to a sixteen man leadership group.

it was #49. Took a bunch of good intercept marks. Played on Charlie in the intraclub game at Morningside and Charlie couldn't get a kick. Looks a decent prospect. Is it Hille?
