He had two points to make:

Football department review - won’t be revolutionary just looking for where we might need more resources or support. Wellman to lead it with support from Sheedy and Madden.

Campbell extension - Something like “sorry we didn’t tell you. I asked a bunch of people at the club and they thought he was going well. His job is more than just football you know. You can’t just change the CEO every time the win loss record is bad. He’s the best person to give us stability going forward.”

Also threw in a bit about no such thing as a “high ranking member” which was quoted in the paper the other day - we’re all equal, please come to 150th celebrations, some stuff about needing our experienced players back to support the development of the kids but injuries aren’t an excuse, effort isn’t enough to be happy with, not as bad or as good as you think, and thanks for continuing to support.

My response to that is:
Either do a full external review or don't even mention it.

Vote with your wallet and you never get the opportunity to change anything. Who is going to vote for change if 20,000 members do not pay up ? The 5000 to 8000 that bother to vote. In 3 years you can vote in 6 new board members which outnumber the appointments. Maybe if a few more people got of their ass and actually did something we would have had people like Ron Gauci on the board. By not voting and not paying up you actually contribute to the boys club as the majority who do vote seem to be in their corner.

I think the most meaningful change that kicked the club into a different gear was 2010 when there weren't any bums on seats and the club was staring down the barrel of losing sponsors. Obviously that revolution didn't work out so well.

If you had the numbers to spill and EGM it paying up and voting could make sense.

Haha. Presidents are voted by the board. He was Vice President before and the longest serving member having previously been the clubs Finance Director overseeing the saga and pandemic debts. How he got them to vote for him is a combination of merit and internal politics.

Max director term is 12 years under club constitution, he has been on the board since 2011. Tom Browne flagged it about a month ago but no one picked up on it.
