Good changes. Hoping Clark and SPS can be back in soon though, Clark needs to be given more opportunities.
Yeo to hopefully play on the HB line.
They must have preferred Willie’s intent and endeavour over Liam, another week in the WAFL will serve Liam well.
Everything else as expected.
Couldnt agree more. They are the exact changes that should have been made. Not that I think it will help in terms of winning against Geelong given the circumstances but it will help to determine how our regulars look in the chaos of out current system. Add to tha Bazzo making a debut with experienced players around him is a good result. It may also release Witherden, Foley and Nelson to think about their defensive vs attacking game in the WAFL and ensure Ryan gets the message he needs to toughen up if he wants to play AFL. For a while now he’s looked brilliant and then wants to sook it a bit….unfortunatel.

Pleasantly surprised about Jones and Bazzo. On paper, changes make us look a bit quicker, which is good. Agree though that it sends a pretty poor message to recall Yeo after 2 underwhelming WAFL games and a suspension to boot. I'd say it could be bulldogs 2021 all over again with all the players coming back from injury layoffs, but we've looked out on our feet in most games regardless.

Yeah difference with the Bulldogs game (and the Sydney game this year) is that we were coming off a strong performance and the mass recall of underdone seniors shot us in the foot.

This time we’re coming off a record losing streak, so at least you can’t say we’re flirting with form.

Bazzo gone past Hedwards?
I think it is probably more to do with the forecast and match-up. Geelong are fielding a pretty small forward line and Hedwards probably doesn't have a logical match up aside from Hawkins (who I assume Barrass will take). Bazzo is more mobile from reports and probably better placed to match-up on one of the mid-sized forwards or even Cameron if they want to free Gov up to float around.

Why did we drop witherden?

Prone to be a bit too careless with his kicking resulting in turn overs.

Slow and also a suspect defender

Basically same reasons Brisbane were happy to ditch him

Excited to see Bazzo play.

Clubba Nelson sitting this week with Bailey Sniff.

Bazzo gone past Hedwards?
I don't think they play the same position, for now. Edwards is a key defender, and we don't need 3 of them. Bazzo is much more mobile; I see him as taking the role Rotham was playing.

Happy with the backline. It's now populated with more blokes who have good football instincts, even if Bazzo, Hough and Jones (as a defender) are tremendously raw. Rotham has taken to chipping sideways, Witherden is a stat-padder, Foley is a converted wingman of no great pedigree, Nelson is who-knows-what.

Clark in 5 games has made 27 tackles which is more than a host of regulars who have played 8-12 games for the year… infact his ten in a game on his game time is one less than Duggan has for the year who is supposedly a defender .
Just means you dont have the ball.

\Simmo

Yeo in is a bloody joke.

Unfit, ill disciplined and needs a run of form.

Can't wait to see him subbed in the third quarter and throwing another dummy spit on the bench.

Simmo supposedly aware of what happened when they brought back underdone A grade players for the Doggies..but between a rock and a hard place really..
Clark out puzzling...be good to see Bazzo..and if Petrol has improved in any way?

I like the ins - we’ve cleared out some of our biggest ball burners this week in Naish, Witherden, Edwards and Nelson. If nothing else, efficiency should improve (in theory?)

Happy to have Yeo back, hopefully he gets a decent crack at it.

Shame to see Clark go out as he’s a hard worker but I guess they have picked West over him this week with Yeo returning. Could he sub?

Shame Ryan hasn’t got up (I assume?) but he looked underdone and disinterested at times in the WAFL - hopefully not far off.

You’d hope it’s a sign they only want guys out there that ready to go at 100%.

Will be an interesting game to see if the likes of Yeo, Shuey, Willie and Gov can navigate a wet Saturday (and let’s face it, probably a 10 goal loss), without copping another injury.

Where do you draw the line at the ‘underdone A graders’ part though?

Gov got an extra week after flying to Adelaide so they erred on the side of caution there, Willie had a run in the WAFL last week, Sheed has played 3 weeks there and Yeo did 2 before his suspension. They have had the chance to get themselves ready to play.

Shuey I guess you can question but he’s an injury waiting to happen regardless of how softly he’s handled.

Yeo is the one for me. If you're going to the WAFL to get fitness, you need to play at least one game where you show you're fit and can run a full game out. Compare him to Sheed - he built slowly over 3 weeks and was clearly fit in last weekend's WAFL game. Petch and Rioli not as much, but they were close enough.

Yeo just hasn't look like himself. He should be in the WAFL until he chops up like Sheed did last weekend. That way he will have confidence and a fitness base that should help him avoid injury.

Hmmm seen this episode before - it didn't have a good ending.

Let's change 1/3 of the team with underdone players and hope it doesn't play out like last time... or the other time... and the time before that... and that other time as well...
