Mills the only one from a Top 8 team

Mills the 5th most tackles - 118. Pretty impressive considering he plays all over the place - wing / inside / drops back in defence.
Rowbum sitting in 8th spot - 105. Not bad for a 21yo.
Parker in 17th - 92. Just doing what hes done for 250 games
Heeney 32nd - 79. Think last game he had 5 tackles inside 50.
Warner next best in 48th spot - 73. Its Mills, Rowbum and Parker that allows him to just ATTACK.

I reckon Horse has the midfield going pretty well for the players hes got. Very balanced, everyone knows and plays their role.
ps.. some posters disagree with how Horse plays Rowbottom. I reckon Horse knows what hes doing.

I reckon our midfield has Warner at the centre, and it's amazing that a 21 year old is able to live up to that pressure.

Swans Daily Media;

Mills on Swans Pride guernsey - cause the League people are confused on how it works and we need to use small words

Horse talks about the need for consistency - and has promptly put the mocker on us for sure this weekend

Heeney & Mills hold their place in Mongrel Punts rolling All Australian team

Good to see our stance on the pride guernsey. Boggles the mind that some have such an issue with it.

nah, it really doesn't boggle the mind when you look at the pseudo furore kicked up regularly around the likes of israel folau, margaret court, et al
so much of it is created by certain elements of the media, contrived as a "freedom of speech" issue
these people claim they're being censored, yet they get regular space, particularly in the murdoch media, just because it suits the various tentacles of that organisation to use such issues to attack the "woke" or "leftie" culture ... which goes back to simply attacking anything progressive (not all "progressive" causes make perfect sense, mind ...)
but in the era of social media, all these ostrich types have plenty of freedom to spout their heinous, hateful, hurtful opinions
(hanson is another one, and what a disgraceful blight she is on this country)
they don't seem to see the irony in claiming they're being silenced, gagged, etc while they're among the loudest, most shrill voices in the public domain, and almost always egged along by the worst of the murdoch cadre

Interesting stat: 14 of last 15 premiers have been top 3 in turnover [ie points differential from]. This year no. 1 is Geelong, no. 2 is.... Syderney.
Yes. Our clearance numbers are still abysmal 14th I think, on any given day if we can break even with clearances then our turnover game sees us in good stead.

The weird thing is that our clearance numbers have been on the crap end of the spectrum a long time now. It isn't something we have fixed.

Here is our Centre Clearances compared to our opponents

2010 - 14th
2011 - 14th
2012 - 14th
2013 - 14th
2014 - 14th
2015 - 14th
2016 - 10th
2017 - 13th
2018 - 16th
2019 - 17th
2020 - 16th
2021 - 6th
2022 - 15th

I mean other than 2021 which I think was down to just how good Hickey was that is pretty terrible.

For reasons unknown, obviously not something we put a priority on

Maybe centre clearances are a meaningless stat when determining success. We won a flag when only ranked 14th.

Big call but I reckon Rowbottom will have as much say in our finals campaign if we get there as anyone for these reasons. He's the guy extracting it from the contest getting it to the outside, and he's also the guy applying the tackles, pressure without the ball. Winning clearances / causing turnovers. There's your midfield edge.

I wouldn't say meaningless, but the numbers can be deceiving as I've always thought it to be about quality over quantity. Richmond consistently had low clearance numbers relative to the competition, but how many of their clearances end up in the hands of Dusty, or led to scoring chains involving Dusty? Melbourne only had 8 more centre clearances than the Bulldogs in last year's grand final (which may seem like a lot, but not when you consider there were 35 centre bounces in total), but we all remember what they were able to do with those handful of centre clearances that led to them turning that whole game.

Our centre clearance numbers have never been strong this year but I think we've been reasonably sound at making them count when we get one. In fact we have had some bloody awesome centre breaks, the likes of which we haven't really had since the 2012-2016 era of midfield dominance.

Preview of game and oh look! We have Dermie in the commentary team. Joy. I note no females, probably so Dermie doesn't catch cooties. /sarcasm

Game preview: And once again the AFL media completely disrespect both teams and call it the Battle... when we haven't used it in almost a decade.

Game Preview: GWS have won 5 of their last 6 SCG outings:oops::eek:

No idea how the figures were calculated, but if ever there is a justification to bin North or send them to Tassie, this supports it.
