Embattled Essendon coach Ben Rutten could be sacked within hours as calls grow for the Bombers to replace him with Alastair Clarkson.
Embattled Essendon coach Ben Rutten survived Monday, but it might only be a matter of time until he is sacked.

Who the feck does Hind think he is ??

I'm no fan of Rutten but he is the current coach and players should have the common decency to pay him some respect during a match regardless of whether they like him or not.

Hind is hardly the elite player who can pick & choose who he speaks with, I'd be sacking him before I sacked Rutten.

Are you watching how Ben Rutten is being treated by his own club board right now?

Respect and integrity is not valued at the club.

From an outsider looking in, Essendon is far too inbred. Way too much money at the Bombers and way too little heart. I'm happy with another two decades of mediocrity at Tullamarine.

Correct, the fact that they still think Hird and Sheedy are the messiahs is pretty pathetic. Collingwood finally learnt their lesson last year and look at where they are now.

We've heard of flag droughts but for Essendon to have a finals win drought is amazing and something I hope never ends. Could you imagine the tension at club when they're hopefully at 50+ years of no finals wins hahaha

Well, it hasn't happened has it? Dah!

Journo's use those words and 'alleged' to ensure they don't get sued.

and 90% of articles are nothing articles.

Someone from the North board clarified that the Hind clip was actually from the North game where the Bombers won by a fair margin. Footy Classified made it out to seem like it was vision from this weekend.

Hilarious - media and BF getting its collective knickers in a twist over possibly the most inconclusive piece of AFL-related footage imaginable - people falling over themselves to condemn a young man and besmirch his character over the flimsiest of ‘evidence’.

Kane Cornes is an absolute dog. ‘This is why he has to go’. It’s not up to him to say through his position that someone needs to get sacked. Have some basic respect for human beings. The guy has a family, financial commitments etc, he doesn’t need some desk jockey ‘analyst’ talking s**t and safe in a big salary job sniping at people whose jobs are under pressure.

The media is a *en pack circus of jocular nothings.
The recent Cornes/Ch.9 criticism of Ben Rutten is just another example of the media flirting with defamation simply to sensationalize a narrative/story..?
In the sporting World (unless the person has committed a criminal act) the media should never have the legal right to demand someone's dismissal..!

At the risk of repeating myself, if our ACMA regulator weren't so incompetent/spineless they would be a least be seeking clarification on the nature of this story - but given they also ignore the increasing amount of opinion presented as 'fact' and speculation promoted as 'news' prevalent in all MSM today, unless the club or Rutten raise the issue there will be, as usual, no recourse or accountability...

Sadly 'Freedom of the press' (which I support) does not/should never be "Freedom to publish BS nonsense'..!

And Caroline Wilson has the nerve to call out Luke Beverage for tearing into Tom Morris.

It’s disgusting what they get away with.

Rutten obviously didn't think it was disrespectful enough at the time to drop him the following week. From that clip there is very little context. You don't know what is being said and it's certainly not enough evidence alone to suggest there is a major rift between the two.

Why? curious to hear why you think that, i personally think North's list is better suited for the future not saying it just cause we lost to them but the Bombers don't have anyone as young elite like LDU & Larkey is almost a star if he is at another club.

It never ends well when one group of powerbrokers gets their way over another group of powerbrokers.
The only way it doesn't turn into a massive bunfight between different powerbrokers is if Clarko delivers them onfield results in his first year.
For Clarko to deliver onfield results in the short term, the playing group will have to face some pretty harsh realities.
The playing group is soft, downhill skiers... Rutten getting sacked absolves them of any blame when the reality is it is 90% their fault.
As soon as Clarko goes too hard on them they will curl up their toes & sook.

It's not so much about North's list, it is more, IMO, that Clarko has to be allowed to do things his way, the North gig would facilitate that. The Bombers gig not so much. Too many chiefs at Bomberland, not enough Indians.

Agreed, the over reaction from this clip is extraordinary, how people can slay Hind for that is ridiculous.

Clarkson would only consider the job if given the scope needed to make the important decisions without pushback that Rutten was never afforded.

Hopefully the external review removes all the chiefs and not the Indians.

They can do better than Hinkley IMO.

They may have already with Clarkson.
True

From what Barret was saying this morning Clarkson seems meh with coaching one of gws or North and was waiting for a 3rd club to show up which now has happened

Apparently clarkson was intrested in coaching esendon weeks ago but Paul Brasher was a rutten supporter so the club couldnt go and make an approach to Clarkson now with Brahser removed the club has gone all in with Clarkson

Dunno if Clarkson is the answer for Essendon.

Multiple ‘failed‘ coaches and two decades of mediocrity tells me that the fish is rotting closer to the head.

Not well versed enough in their structures and/or wealthy power brokers who hold sway over the board, but IMO something is seriously off higher up in the food-chain that no new coach will fix.

If I remember correctly Worsfold alluded to something along these lines.

Why would Clarko ruin his extraordinary coaching cv, to join a club where most of their good players want out and don’t want to be there.

Essendon is a way more attractive proposition for Clarko, Essendon’s squad is tailored made for Clarko to have an immediate impact. I’m saying it with full chest, if he comes in we’re getting top 4 next season comfortably.

North Melbourne can have Clarko after we’ve won four flags in a row and they’ve relocated to tassie, where they can eulogise over drew petries celebration as their only meaningful accomplishment in their organisation.

Oh and we’ll take Zurhaar too thanks, and McKay as a free agent next year as well. Forgot to add, enjoy Ken Hinkley as coach too, and make sure you stock up on as many wooden spoons before you relocate to your natural state of origin.

Kevin Sheedy should have nothing to do with the club anymore either, yet I read that he’s a significant driving force in the Clarkson chase.

He’s a legend of the club, but much like McGuire at the Pies, has reached a used by date and shouldn’t be let anywhere near the place IMO, lest the cycle continue.
