Why would we pay for another small half back? We have Saad. Docherty, Boyd, Newman, Williams all capable of playing there. Four of those are better players than McKenna and Boyd may well overtake him.

Only one reason to look at him - genuine elite leg speed

The truly fastest runner will always beat a zone defense - by running. Saad does it to great effect- only needs half a meter to fake and go - and he is gone....a fast runner also buys time for the rest of the team to set up and also buys time for the defensive structures to make mistakes as they try and cover for both the runner and receivers...

True elite speed is the ultimate weapon - very rare. We had it with Yarran and we saw glimpses in Pickett - unfortunately for different reasons - lost. Yarran was 'untouchable' - a thing of beauty to watch when he was running with ball in hand looked like he was moving in slow motion and everyone else was stationary..

Almost unplayable against in a small forward - like Charlie Cameron - who has an ability to put the jets on and the smarts to go with it - love watching him play when he is in the mood - the Melbum bloke goes ok too- watched him do 4 repeat efforts on three different players - just because he could move so fast...

I love speed, true speed - not fake try-hard speed - huge difference...almost as much as real bone jarring tackle- almost.

Granted McKenna was quick but he had a great capacity to run himself into dead ends. Saad can do the same but has that little dinky sideways kick that only he can see and use to great effect.

Slingshot defence turnovers are just about undefendable as * found out. Blistering pace without a plan b might
win you the odd unexpected game but doesnt stand up overall.

If McKenna wanted 3 years at $450k (just guessing) then it would be a hard no from me.
