2 + Marshall is a good deal. 8 + Marshall is not.

I'm probably slow, but I still can't see how Port get 2 from WC.

I think 8 + F1 + Marshall is also acceptable, but I'm now lost in the confusion as to whether or not they can trade their F1.
The same arrangement as the mega deal except
  • we get Marshall
  • Port keep their F1, which lets them trade F2
  • WC get Port's F2, pick 33 along with 8 and 12

Port approaching the second week, having to 'seriously consider' including quality players was an inevitability, not lost on any party in trade discussions.

We may profit on the backend by way of picks, but I'd be upping the ante, and pressuring for a player.

- I would be in the ear of Miles Bergman.

He's an intriguing fit for our list and his versatility appeals. His two seasons in the top flight have been plagued by inconsistency due to injury and being trialled in different positions.

I'd suspect Bergman is more gettable than Sinn, but I'd take Bergman over Sinn regardless.

Just on Sinn - I would have loved to have seen some exposed 18's Champs form, to see where he was really at, but I'm not as high on his left boot as others. This was evident in his exposed SANFL form (irrespective of it being interrupted). He went nearly sub 50 percent disposal efficiency and 41 by foot during those games, which was poor.

This was not a surprise given what I saw in his NAB League hit-outs. He has a propensity to bite off more than he can chew, and lacks the technical execution to pull it off at times.

As an example, some would view his highlights vs Dandenong (where he looks great with the running bounce through the centre of the field, burning a couple of opponents with his pace). He predominantly played in the middle that game. His first seven kicks were ineffective including two kick clangers inside 50, before a 3rd out on the full under minimal pressure, with a shot on goal from 45 out.

I'm not sold on him as a general defender at AFL level.

Bergman has strings to his bow. Positionally and in productivity. His two games in early 2022 vs Melbourne and Carlton he looked comfortable at the level, before illness hit him at an inopportune time, ruling him out for a few weeks. He went back to the SANFL worked his way back into the side and showed some real promise in the last 8 games of the season at AFL level.

33 games into his career, he has a few weaknesses that I think can be fully developed.

I really hope we push for his return to Victoria.
Holy shit. The myth, the man, the legend

If you walk away from this trade period with Marshall, Logue, Tucker and Clark it certainly changes our structure and starting 22 for next year.
Both glaring holes in the list at kpf and kpd fixed with quality 24 year olds.
It would be awesome.

The times I have seen Marshall a little bit hit and miss . Reminds me a bit of Sam Reid Swans , has some attributes but can disappear for long periods.

Anyone we target at CHF I would like to just provide structure, 5 marks a game and a relatively reliable kick inside 50. Goals are a bonus.

This until whichever KPP we draft this year/Comben can cement a spot in the side.

Larkey > Marshall. Larkey had worse delivery, less of it, and either a ruckman or JZ/CZ as his offsiders. Marshall had better entries, more of them and a support act that genuine tall fwds in Dixon, Georgiades. That said, he'd be a welcome addition to our fwd line. Not the crash and bash type I'd hope for, but perhaps gives us more time to get comben into that role. Still, 8, f1st and Marshall. We send back a f2 or f3

Would prefer Marshall over Sinn and Bergman. Sinn's injury record is less than stellar. Haven't seen enough of him. Bergman looks promising but I'm hoping Tucker plugs a hole in our team. Marshall fit's a need. I'd prefer not to reach for Cadman.

Ideally I'd like Marshall and 2 so we can get Sheezel and Wardlaw. Would settle with 8, Marshall and F1. Death ride them and hope they blow up next year.

Trade 1 for 3, 12 and 18. 18 for clark.

This is a comment made on one of facebook pages on Todd Marshall:

“Hearing from a decent source that big Todd Marshall has been asked the question and has told Port that he is willing to come across to Arden st.
8 + future 1st pick and Marshall”
I'd take that. Then send pick 1 to GWS for 3 + 12 + 15 (whatever additional picks on top of 3 ans 12 to round it out because I think we can get more than just 3 + 12). See if we can bundle a few to WC (8 + 12?) for 2 and take the 2 best that fall to us and not reach for Cadman because Marshall addresses (temporarily) the KPF issue. Flip 18/19 if we get that to St Kilda for Hunter if we are still chasing him

Sorry mate not across the prospects at the moment. I'd want more than 12 and 15 for pick 2 though. I'm not opposed to drafting him but I think the Cadman comparison to J.Cameron is generous. The latter was near dominating TAC Cup as a 17 yo.

He was a wonderful prospect.

I remember him kicking 4.5 or 4.6 vs the Pioneers and he had something like 15 score involvements for the day.

One week, he would be low touch, high impact close to the goal. The next, he'd push up the ground and find it a whole heap more, still punishing opponents.

Freak as an under-ager.

Only if we have pick 2 in our possession first! Then we’re guaranteed to pick two of Wardlaw/Sheezel/Tsatas. If we trade pick 1 and don’t have pick 2 we’re just waiting for the left overs, relying on who WCE pick and would’ve diluted our pick for no reason.
Yes, it was based on the assumption that we had pick 2.

If I recall correctly until this year Port fans didn’t like him. I feel like he got Bronx cheers regularly.
