Meh I'm not feeling much warmth to Rioli atm, maybe when he retires.

Dream scenario:

1. Rioli gets suspended again;
2. Port Power's contract is so shit they are trapped for four years;
3. Junior spends the rest of his career fishing and smoking buckets in the Tiwis on Port's dime; and
4. Hinkley is signed until 2035.

Who do you prefer with pick 8 and 12
im-so-glad-you-asked-thanks.gif

At pick 8 I'd take:
1. Cameron Mackenzie - the best field kick in the draft and a smooth mover from contests. I think he projects as better than Tsatas and Clark (even though both are tipped to go before him). Also would regularly outperform Ashcroft in the same team but keep that on the DL. Certainly in the mould of a Callum Mills type player (better disposal than Mills, but not as good as Mills in other areas).
2. Bailey Humphrey - probably isn't available here, but if he was, strikes me as a Dangerfield type midfielder. Super explosive and great upper body strength.
3. Mattaes Phillipou - probably the greatest scope of any player in the draft. He has a great inside-outside game and at 192cm would pair well with Culley for our future extra-sized midfield. I get a more midfield oriented Darcy Fogarty or a more prolific Justin McInerney vibes from Phillipou.

At pick 12 I'd take:
1. Mattaes Phillipou - may still be available here, depending on earlier selections. If we got him and Mackenzie/Humphrey at our picks that would be tremendous for our midfield rebuild.
2. Oliver Hollands - regularly lauded for his two way running I think Hollands would complement a midfield with Culley really well.
3. Elijah Hewett - yeah I actually like Hewett and wouldn't mind him (or Ginbey here), but not if we're justing going a one-two punch for WA kids with our picks (particularly if one of our picks in the 20s is used for Jones). People on this forum say he reminds them of Tim Kelly, and I can see that. I also get Dion Prestia vibes from him.

At pick 20 I'd probably take a slider (if any players aren't selected who were expected to go into the teens).
If not, Hotton and Hustwaite may be available around this selection. Hustwaite at 194cm combined with Culley and other recruits could give us a very tall midfield.

At pick 26 I'd take Jones or Clarke.

If my options for picks 8 and 12 eventuates I would actually feel like our pick downgrade was justified and was really helping with our rebuild.

Interesting list

I think McKenzie will be gone by 8, but yes, I rate him highly

Humphrey, I have major concerns with his kicking. Not only does he have a high ball drop, his kicking leg comes from behind his planted foot. Also has a really poor tank. A fair bit to correct. If it can be fixed, he will be a weapon. Otherwise, he is a poor man's Dangerfield

Phillipou I rate top 4, reminds me of Fritsch, with the ability to play at stoppages.

Hollands, I am less of a fan than most. Runs all day, but doesn't have the impact per possession. A tad too rushed with his disposal

Hewett I like, can burst through a stoppage, genuinely dangerous when resting forward

I am a big fan of Hotton, quick, dangerous and genuine dual position

Ginbey would be a good fit for your list. While he is a blunt axe and needs more finesse, he is quick, great tank, tough. Think he develops somewhere between a Maynard/Crisp

20 and 26, any of Weddle, Burgiel, Barnett, Jones would be very good acquisitions

As much as we're hating on Rioli, end of the day footy is just sport.

I wish Rioli all the best. A successful career, setting his family up financially and getting his life together off the field so he can continue doing right by his family post-footy.

Hewett is all signed and sealed with the Eagles

He's been eyed up by the eagles for sometime, been told to play within him self and SD have been playing him out of position in the league

Need to find a suitable trade for 18 or 19 from GWS with out 26)

And end up with the Poo, Hewett, DJ & Allen (neither of these 2 will make it to 26)
Interested what you mean by this because the game I saw him play for SD he started every quarter on the bench, came on between the 5-10 mark and then started pretty much every bounce in the centre square. He did play more of an outside role at ball-ups around the ground.

Who would you take at said pick given your ratings mate? (FWIW - I'm on the Hotton train too. One touch on top of other things you listed.)

At 8, I would wait for a slider. While it may not be a player of need, you don't ignore talent by reaching

Depending on how it falls in front of you, might surprise to see one of Clarke ( rate him at 1), Busslinger, Phillipou at 8.

I would take Hotton at our pick, so if he is there at 12, either he or Hewitt

Then, any of the 4 I mentioned would be great pick ups for needs and or attributes to what they add to your list

Love it if GC took him, let him develop there and if he's any good poach him then.

Like all those other WA ex-pats we've pinched back from them?
O'Meara, Brodie, Callum Ah Chee, Matera, Bennell, Langdon, Sharp?

Oh wait, Langdon isn't from GC. Never mind.

It seems like a damning list until you realise all (except Brodie) did SFA for their new clubs.

Just nabbed the big Tele and am watching YouTube. Watched Wardlaw,Tsarios,Clark and Hewitt.Hewitt is in a different league.Clark is one of those guys that can’t seem to kick over 40ms but doesn’t waste a kick left or right. I can see the Selwood comparison.

If dockers can't satisfy GC with a future 2nd for sharpe I wonder if we could throw Ports future 2nd at them to snaffle him before the deadline .

He's got four years guaranteed, which takes him to 32, which is a good career.

I'm happy that he's provided for his family but I wish him no luck at Port Adelaide.
