Give me phillipou, wardlaw, sheez, mavkenzie above Clark
Just wonder if Phillipou has gone home factor at all... Otherwise he is a decent player, just need to analyse his opposite foot if he can kick on it reasonably well, because he is a lefty. Phillipou plays very similar to Bont imho...

The talk of Pick 5 was before we got Pick 7 as a way of explainingthe trade delay. That we got Pick 7 in the Bowes trade put the Pick 5 talk to bed.
I've not long finished reading the last 30 odd pages - plenty of talk that pick 5 is still on the trade table and available if the right deal presents

Clark may be as good as anyone but I just question that based on the combine results. If we are trading down to 5 for Clark.. the club must be very confident on him

Joel Selwood was no athletic beast either, yet he's the greatest Geelong Footballer I've ever seen.

If Clark is the man, I'll back the club in. They've had him around the playing group already and have seen him up close since he was 14-15. Their judgement on him beats any of us by a mile.

It will be on their judgement. He is a competitive type but afl is a whole different level of athletic opposition.

Don’t see the need to rush these old blokes out now they’ve won us a flag. Not while they’re playing good footy.

They’ll either sense it’s a good time to go like Joel or at worst play some VFL and help develop kids like SH & LD.

The whole reason we won this flag was the fact we had a bunch of old blokes mature/experienced enough to understand a new game plan.
Mature/experienced enough to be playing coaches to help guide and direct the young whipper snappers.

Can everyone please stop trying to kill off the old blokes.

The melts over O Henry are hilarious.

Some claiming its draft tampering if he gets to us in ND.

Tbh, I can't see him at Pies next season. Sounds like us or ND for Henry.

Depends on how many sources you want to read

I for one are not counting BF as a source for a possible trade scenario.
And I’m not stupid enough to read footy stuff on Facebook.

So a source for me is what is said ‘not allegedly said’ by a list manager or player manager.

I dunno. Five vs seven could be the difference in getting the player that we really want as opposed to some other player.

Re Tuohy - I'd understand it if he was keen for a different kind of challenge at a third club. Love to keep him, but if it helps the club land every one of our targets this year, it's worth it imo.
What are our targets? Bruhn was the only player we directly targeted. If Bowes didn't come with the bonus 7 pick we would not have targeted him. Ollie Henry targeted Geelong not the other way around. So the hypothetical Tuohy trade is not helping land any of Geelong's targets. The whole obsession with Ollie Henry defies logic. It's like a runaway train.

You have no idea if Ollie chased us or we chased him. None.
And he’s the last possible in, and we traded out everything that could have landed him on day one.

It’s hardly a club obsession.

We won the flag a few weeks back. Chill. They don’t come around all that often.

It's not a club obsession, it's an illogical pile on by some people posting on this thread.

Mackie says the 20-year-old, who was taken with pick 17 in the 2020 draft, wants to join the 2022 premiers provided a fair deal can be agreed upon.

“Yeah, he wants to come down and play for Geelong,” Mackie said on AFL Trade Radio’s The Early Trade.

“It sort of popped up late that one. We were aware he was out of contract but we didn’t actively pursue it or knock the door down to his manager. Given he’s a second-year player, it’s not something we tend to do.

“Clearly his brother plays down here and we’re aware of the situation. By the end of the year, albeit even if it was a couple of weeks ago, we were aware that he would be keen to get down here.

No wonder we're at an impasse. Got the deals done without fuss for the guys we targeted, left scrambling for the capital to acquire the services of the one who came to us.

A few people were raising this earlier...why does a 20 year old want out of a "Big 4" club 2 years after being drafted.

Don't normally go in for scuttlebutt (nor do I have any about this) but there seems to be more to Henry's request than just getting home which, as Wright himself said, "is only 50 mins down the road".
Good Question. I posted something along those lines as soon as the Ollie Henry saga started. He's at a prestigious club that is also a destination club having played finals in 2022 and almost knocking off the eventual premiers in it's first final. The 'missing family' thing is a furphy when Geelong is on the fringes of Melbourne. Wanting to play in the same team as your brother is hardly a mature response from a player who is serious about making a career out of football.

Maybe it's the beer talking, but we have pick 7 and a few players who are worth something on the trade table. Could we not ask GWS about their pick 1?

it's not like they have had it for very long and therefore planned most of their off season list management around having it and who they'd take as a result, plus they have so many picks anyway: 7, 15, 18 and 19 is still pretty bloody good. Maybe Sav for a FR2 and then both 7 and next years FR1 for the 1st pick this year. Then Ol' Big Balls Mackie can call up Rendell and tell him where to shove it, pick 25 or we get him anyway.

Get Henry for 25, and then take 1 to the draft.
