You'd need to be willfully ignoring the state of play to not notice that a huge chunk of the northern hemisphere is about to find out just how dependent they are on fossil fuels for something as simple as heat and farming, and suddenly the environmental groups are getting ahead of it to demonise the solution. The lack of availability of fossil fuels is what they wanted and the price for that will be felt in the human cost this northern winter. They need the PR as much as the oil producers.

Can't have people ever really understanding the level to which we are dependent on fossil fuel. As long as everyone keeps their perception to their home solar almost powering all, if not all, of their household energy costs the scale of energy used by society can be masked. Your home also has about as much water as your household will use in a year fall as rain on it.

It maybe changing but Freo doesnt need to stick their **** on the block to make a stand on it. It would effect us far more than most other teams. Its another example of Freo not being able to control the media story in this town. Eagles would have closed it down snip snap!

Eagles consume alot of the sponsorship dollars in this town, not alot is leftover for Freo. Vic, NSW has a massive depth of corporates with $$ looking to sponsor. Losing Woodside is premature and would be to the detriment of Freo's financial position.

Most AFL players set themselves up for life during their playing career, Banfield will most likely make his money after he finishes playing and being CEO of a company. The guy doesn’t need the money now and don’t think it motivates him, he values education and happiness, being from a wealthy family probably helps.

Yes, I'll be bringing the politics thread back onto the main board for the off-season as we normally do and directing all traffic there since it's impossible to separate the politics part of that discussion. There is lot's of copying required though so it's will get to it tonight.

In the meantime, please keep further discussion of the Woodside matter out of the thread peeps. It already has a dedicated thread

I don't think some people realise how important keeping Bell is. He has been one of the pillars of our rebuild, the reason we have won every trade period and broke even this one (arguably). Can you imagine where our rebuild would be without some of the players we have drafted/traded in? He is absolutely immense to our club's success.

So happy about this. As others have said, and make no bones about it, Belly has probably been the single most important off-field part of our club becoming a serious contender. Whilst I believe Wells deserves the lion's share of the recruiting praise, Belly is definitely the McCartney to his Lennon. I think he probably is the main guy regarding our negotiating stance which, from what has been put out there, is pretty well respected across the comp and given us a reputation as straight shooters. I assume Garlick was responsible for Bob coming in, but Belly clearly works well with all of them and I feel has been the driving force behind turning us into a serious outfit with a real shot at sustainable success.

Keep saying it, but these are exciting times.

Love how she wanted to press Suma because it was Fremantle. Any other team she would’ve moved on but then admits she’s a freo fan and wanted to push. Love it. Makes it even better

Haha, pretty sure she's lying through her teeth in that interview in trying to be nice. Wanted to know because she was "curious" and "respected him" and trying to say there was known "technical issues." That smirk at the time tells us all she knew exactly what she was doing...
