For those interested in Finn Callaghan, GWS have a 2 year deal in front of him at around double his ‘market value’. Dogs won’t pay him anywhere near that much. Big decision, Kid.

Jeez, make that money kid. I know GWS are desperate to not lose another 1st rounder but there's a strong offer and there's double market value.

Looking at their current list, I don't think a quick rebuild is on the cards - they are still heavily reliant on the 30+ brigade so are in for a long build this time round. Dumping a whole bunch of picks for Tim Kelly puts them behind the 8-ball for a while.
They've got a really promising defence though. Absolutely set for key defenders in particular, and have just picked up Chesser, Hewett and Ginbey in the last couple years which goes a long way towards starting that midfield rebuild (although I don't see Ginbey playing outside defence long term)

Any young gun that has the misfortune of being drafted to GWS has a duty to milk the joint dry for his first couple of contracts. Should he make the leap into the territory of being an established gun then they have a duty to jump ship and float away on their life raft of money to the club of their choice. If he doesn't make the leap then he needs to dry his tears with handfuls of $100 dollar notes because GWS need to pay out 95% of their salary cap regardless of the talent on the list. Being a cash cow for players and a money sink for the AFL is their destiny. I see much the same happening with the looming Tasmanian boondoggle.

What is “market value” for an early first round picks first extension having not played much? I wonder how it compares to Daicos / Ashcroft he signed longer term deals as part of their F/S nominations.

If we’ve got the cap space you have to throw an offer out there and see if you could hook him.

They’ll throw whatever is needed to keep him so won’t happen but damn if they don’t improve again is that really where he wants to be? He’s been a cellar dweller his whole career now and isn’t getting any younger…

McKay, Buss, English, Marra, Naughty throw in the unicorn Darcy floating around

What the actual *?

Why not grab the other McKay twin too? Harry McKay, Marra, Naughton would be unstoppable up forward. Then Ben McKay, Darcy Moore and Sam Darcy would be a sweet backline. English and Sean Darcy as the ruck duo once Lobb retires. We would be seriously hard to beat.

Callaghan will cost us a bit, so not sure we would be in the market for him unless he is actually an exceptional talent that we like him enough to give up some assets. To much riding going on with the whole "family" connection with Bevo thing, means nothing.

He was Pick 3 in a draft, and if he plays most of the games this year and is solid, then Giants will ask a top 5 pick for him. If he dominates, they will ask for even more. If he doesn't crack the best 22 and doesn't play many games, then his value will slip into range of our two first rounders. Somewhere between Picks 10-15. He is only 14 months out from being Pick 3, so will still hold some value unless he struggles badly in the seconds.

Sam Darcy

Sam Darcy is a young gun that the Bulldogs would want to sign long-term as soon as possible, having shown plenty of potential in his debut season.

He was only able to play four games in 2022 due to a foot injury, however was able to make an impression in limited time, having an impact on both sides of the field.

The Bulldogs have indicated their wish to get a deal imminently, with it being reported that the club hopes they will come to terms with Darcy before the season gets underway.

Taken second overall in the 2021 draft, the tall is one of only six players taken in the first round not to have already signed an extension.

With the sky seemingly the limit for the father-son prospect, the Bulldogs are expected to offer a huge contract the ensure Darcy continues his stay at Whitten Oval.

I am not worried at all about Sam, he's just been told by his agent to leave it as late as possible to drive his price up.

Ryan Gardner has deserved the 3 year contract extension

For a guy who was delisted then worked three jobs to get where he is now, it's a great story.

He's going to end up with his name on a locker by the time his career's done. Absolutely deserves it with how hard he's worked.

What I love about most of those clips... His teammates at the same contests are either getting beaten to the contest comfortably or standing there like stunned mullets.

Super Gards flying in to save the day.

“Super, super gards
super, super gards
super, super gards
Super Ryan Gardiner”

Sing it with me Proffessor !!

Ive been a big critic of Gardner on these pages, but it was pretty clear that he'd turned a corner during the last season. When a player makes me eat my words by putting his head down and working their arse off. Then Im more than happy for them to be rewarded with long term contracts. As hard as it is for me to believe, its almost like the MC have a better understanding of what a player brings to the club than I do.

Social media team elite with the better homes & gardens theme.

He’s been over-hated at times, but especially last season he was showing improvement all the time. Having Jones down there is going to help him as much as having Lobb will help Naughton.
