I for one will never forget when Graeme McMahon lectured the competition on management of a football club and how Essendon were born to do it better.

Turns out that an early generational handout couldn't buy glory forever. We may have been shite over the years but they are now soulless.
And I hope they keep it that way

i never understood the fascination with the acquisition of williams. he was never going to be an inside mid and the coin was nuts. but then again we went and grabbed brad hill only to play him on the HBF
Hill was moved to the HBF because he wasnt playing well or had much impact on the wing. Suddenly he started having more impact on games. Funny hey.

**** who cares. it's not like it was performance enhancing drugs or something that tarnishes the integrity of the competiton. It's a 20 year old doing party shit. It's not him driving under the influence or hurting others. what's all the big deal about

The way the AFL reacts to this is insane in my opinion.

A large majority of the players would do drugs. The bloke gets filmed in a cubicle and now he is banned for two games.

They should be condemning whoever filmed him and nothing more. Society's views on recreational drugs are absolutely bizarre.

I would argue more players do drugs than don't do drugs. Young guys with popularity and disposable income. Most kids their age in society do it even without the disposable income. You are right the response is insane but the media are generally out of touch and years behind anyway so in a way I'm not surprised.

Funnily enough I reckon the media w***ers would get on it more than most, look at Tom Morris and how cooked he likes to get.

Incredible example of how embarrassing the AFL media is. Surely noone actually gives a shit if Jack had a little sniff in the off season?

All I'll say is, more clubs should get fined and have players fined for stuff like this all because the AFL half arse a document about it that people sign.

Had a couple of moments but didn't do much apparently. You'd want more for 800k a year

I reckon he will come good once he matures but his first few years are going to be plagued with inconsistencies as he doesnt look to me to have the drive to make the best of himself.
Had he gone 100% at North, did his best and acted professionally and then asked for a trade to where he really wanted to be then fair enough. But what was on display was someone thinking he was top shit, unwilling to listen to those around him and then berating others unfairly. Plus inadequate training standards.

He absolutely will mature from being a dumb ass 19 year old but anyone at Port who thinks he is going to be a Daicos has rocks in their head. I could be wrong but this seems the most likely outcome to me.

It's funny that whilst we've bemoaned the lack of ability to attract the good players, those players who chose other destinations over StKilda for often bigger money, have mostly been pretty underwhelming.
Brad Hill, l now expect to come good and get closer to his previous value.

A good player won't fix a poorly run club and rarely work out because they mostly go there for cash. A good player at a good club generally works out better because they have their shit together already.

The thing that Lyon should bring is an ability to maximise a lot of guys like Hill, Howard, Snags, Butts etc. Even Billings and Clark types should be able to maximise their talent in a stable structured environment. He might not be a magic wand but at the bare minimum the structures and systems will improve from what we've had for the last decade. That should get us the most out of what we already have.
