Every player photo is old. They're in the old kit. Classic on the collar instead of the Maccas logo
My original post was not really about whether the kit is one, two or three years old.
It was about no photos for certain players.
Someone then asked if they (Dunkley & Gunston) were in a Lions kit, as i did not mention them, and it went from there.

It was mentioned last year, that clubs don't have full control of the club websites, and that the a lot of things, like player photos added to club sites, are done from AFL house. Last year, quite a few players who had changed clubs, were added to their new clubs player page, wearing the kit from their previous club. These photo's stayed on the club pages for about a week, before they were updated.

Failure - or Brisbane Failed - isn't that the perspective of whom is saying it based on what they see as the mark of success.

A Journalist, in their head when writing their article may just see success as winning the Grand final, that means 17 teams failed that season and consistently that journalist would then give every club a fail bar the winner.

If the goal was to play finals, get more revenue from more members and bigger crowds, gain more sponsors and become more of a destination club for player recruiting - then you would mark Brisbane as an outstanding success 4 years running.

Then of course there are the one-eyed journalists, well not even journalists just commentators who don't have to have any balance at all and those ones do clearly write/say things they think will change a certain club's or player's thinking. For sure many times a coach has contacted a journalist to give someone a rev-up in the media. There are coaches across many sport that use the media to motivate their team and/or certain player - e.g. Wayne Bennet in the NRL

I'm not defending Fish, he is just another talking head to me, I just see his perspective as Success = Premiership, then he is also used to leak strategic information by the Lions.

In reading any article, before I get mad, I just try to see their perspective first then assess if it's worth remembering the information or using it as fish and chip wrapper.

Oooof. Really should just have booked that in for surgery earlier and got him right for finals, to my mind.

Nah this was a coin flip to be honest. There was a chance that with some rest and physio it would hold up to the end of the season, they risked it and it turned out to be wrong. That’s fine.

There was just as much chance tbh that he went for surgery and wouldn’t have made a difference in finals because he was underdone - also doesn’t take into account how our season would’ve gone with just McStay and a fresh from ACL hipwood.

You can’t win with these decisions honestly, they thought they were making the right one at the time.

Assuming we don't lose 3 more games and possibly miss the 8.
Should Berry also got his done ??.
Decisions decisions

Yes then we always bang on about how we can’t play players underdone. There is no winning with injured players.
In all fairness to the decision made, there was a fair bit of winning with Daniher in the team.

Surgery isn't a guaranteed fix either. Dizzy must've had 3 or 4 shoulder surgeries already

Shoulders are a really complex joint - so many different movement angles and rotations.

Even just reattaching a single ligament can change the movement and cause long term problems.

Reconstructions have the lowest rehab prospects of any joint.

Didn't he consistently say that we wouldn't have played Lyons if he wasn't 100% all the way through last season?
Lyons much easier to replace than Daniher - we had inside mids waiting in the wings. Our previous years strategy seemed to focus on the forwards bringing the ball to ground, mainly because McSpud was no good, so even an injured JD playing this role was a better bet to make finals than relying on a forward line of McSpud, Hippy and probably Fullerton for half the year

I can understand why we seem to be talking a lot of players up in the pre season because it helps deliver memberships.

But it makes me a little uneasy. Probably had too many disappointments on pre season hype.

Re Daniher a half fit Daniher is still going to be marked by the opposition's No 1 or No 2 backman and he's big enough to get in the way mostly even if he can't get the ball. I can see the club's thinking. There was no guarantee that with surgery he'd be fit to play at all in time for finals. And we still had to get there.

Without showing any disrespect to Tommy I doubt that they'd worry too much about who they put on him until he actually cut loose. Which has not happened over the course of a game to date.

Dan McStay was a great club man and a very good footballer for the Lions. He left for a better contract at the Magpies after years of loyal service to the Lions. Why would you be so disrespectful to such a good human being?

McStayin semi final:

kicked 2 nice passes that resulted in Hipwood goals.

Got a htb that resulted in a hipwood goal.

Shepherded Ah Chee to allow him the goal just before half time.

Kicked 2 himself in the last quarter.

We would not have won without him…

To be fair I’ve heard from multiple people independently (that have very little interest in footy) that McStay might be a bit of a ****head…. Unsure what I can say without being banned so I’ll leave it at that. Disclaimer that they are totally unverifiable claims on my part, but just odd that I’ve heard the same thing twice.

Still liked him as a player though

I guess we have different definitions of 'so disrespectful', and 'a very good footballer'.
I've never met the man, so i can't speak to his character. But being a good bloke doesn't help us win matches, which is what the comment was referring to (a '22 forwardline without Daniher).
I don't begrudge him in the slightest, it has been the best news of our offseason, especially after we landed Gunston which i'm sure the Club knew was in the bag when they chose not to match any offer on the table.
I'll happily stand corrected, but this years forwardline will be infinitely stronger and more multi-dimensional with a (gun) player who can trouble the scoreboard. And second to watching the mighty Lions, I can't wait to see how he fares at Collingwood as their main man...

McStay is a significantly better marker of the ball than Hipwood.

The difference is, Hipwood is ~7cm taller with a much longer reach.

Do you have any faith in Hipwood leading up to ball and taking a mark out in front?

The other point, which I’ve been saying for years, is that our game plan has been really poor in regards to our tall forwards creating space for each other, making false leads and opening space behind them.

It’s not unusual to see two, or all three of our talls, flying for the same ball, sometimes with Rayner coming over the back or from the opposite side.

Geelong and Richmond are far better at using their tall forwards to create space for each other, and still allow their smalls to pounce on loose balls.
