STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

This will never be a thing in Official Seasons, we need to stick with Champion Data - because people have requested it, we are investigating people being able to copy the team as a "Custom Team" and making that editable.

Could it potentially be done for Management Career? It would be good to change players attributes and positions if we can.
 
Can empty crowds be fixed in manager mode? to have a more realistic crowd size for bigger games.
 
I'm having the issue with getting custom logos onto Guernseys. Saying that importing SVGs has worked a dream. I have uploaded about 40 graphics already.
 
Finally get a handball out in the direction I want to go to a free player, opposition teleport tackle and a HTB is called.

I've seen enough.

Is it too early to ask what is planned for tomorrow's patch?
Yes :)

We'll have a meeting in the morning, look at the remaining issues, then decide which functions to upload and gameplay tweaks to make.

My bet would be an online focus with custom matches and invites.

We're working right now on why the uploaded logos are not working/crashing - there is very likely a fix on that tonight for Steam (nice thing about PC is we can find/fix/upload fast).

Really hoping to see some good custom teams shared :)
 
Ok, quit halfway through second game. Still too many issues/bugs. Lack of control of players in defense is the biggest one. Was getting trounced by Gold Coast in the hitouts, so they got every clearance, and once they take a mark on half forward I'm a sitting duck, stuck with the man on the mark selected. Just helplessly watching goal after goal isn't a fun experience.

Similar to other feedback above, handballs always get intercepted, AI can warp the ball any distance from any angle under any pressure to hit a teammate whereas I need to both be 5m clear and have a teammate 5m clear to hit him.

Kicking is really good, need a 'lob kick' button for when you have a free player just over the mark and I think also a lob handball button given how many handpasses get intercepted.

Would say only minor improvements from yesterday's patch with most of the same issues persisting. Ruck needs to be sorted out, need 80% of ruck contests to spill neutrally, not have every winning tap go straight down the throat of a midfielder. Also a good way to vary ruck contest results would be to have the umpire's bounce vary off straight, and then have the advantage go to certain players depending on attributes (eg a player with good jump skill will be advantaged by the ball being away from them, a player with high strength/weight/height will be advantaged by the ball being on their side). Not fun as it is currently, too generic.
 
Just played a season match against the Swans after tonight's patch. 5 min quarters on easy difficulty. Here were my thoughts:



- A lot of automatically playing on happening when the players take a few steps after a mark on the run (completely animated I can't do anything about it) Namely a lot of the marks I have taken in the fwd 50 where the player jumps across the pack and steps away from the 'set shot marker' will always play on basically giving away what would be an easy goal
this has been doing my head in and you have no idea play on has been called till you are tackled and done holding the ball


Also I assume you mean JL not Ross Lyon in regards to Dockers coach haha
 
Better, but it still needs another 2 months in the oven.

It needs something that's for sure (I also need to get good at it lol).

It's slowly becoming AFL Live 2.0 - the game I road tested, was a mix of

- center square ruck contest, get ball, move a few cm, tackle, ball up.
- ball up from just outside the center square, get ball, move to f50 line, tackle, ball up
- ball up from 50m line, opposition win possession, break away with handballs and a quick kick

etc etc etc

That said I wasn't blown away (on Easiest) this time, it was 1.1.7 to 3.2 20
scored a goal in the final quarter and loved the roar of the crowd (fist pumped at the same time too it was epic lol)


I'm going to switch to the default camera (side to side) and see if I can adjust my game to that point of view, the top down view is good... but it's too hard to counter the AI's counter attack (as soon as they get the ball). I'm tackling a lot more, think it's a bit of a rip off that they get a virtually instant incorrect disposal/holding the ball call. Whlie every tackle I did, it was either play on or a ball up. Where's MY free kick you dumb umpires :p


I had 3 instances (same bug as someone reported on Saturday and Sunday night). I had possession of the ball on 3 different occasions where I did not hit any input buttons and the cpu/ai played on and kicked the ball without my input. Very confusing (makes me think the game is more scripted than the WWE!!! lol).

Still getting caught with the ball far too easily, I'd like to be able to do something with the ball insteaad of getting it and then tackled almost instantly.

Strangely enough I won more ruck contests than I had last night. Previously I was trying to do what others suggested and aim to hit the ball at the highest peak. I actually won more hit outs AFTER that point (when the ball was coming back down).

That was something we actually worked on in this patch, will investigate - amongst the other issues above.

Playing a match is unbearably frustrating right now. AI is so much better at marking no matter how well I time it, AI constantly teleports from about 2m away from me to tackle me whenever i try and kick, there are opponents always being left available in my defensive 50, and getting out of congestion is pretty much impossible other than for AI. Also I reduced from Hardest to Normal and Im not seeing any difference.
 
Weird reading all these 'handballs intercepted' posts. I played maybe 5 games in the PS5 over the weekend and didn't have much trouble with them being intercepted. The issue I found with handballs was from time to time they'd shoot off and go longer than a kick and that was just a standard tap handball and not a clearance handball. Outside of that, so long as you aim your pass well it hits a team mate. If you handball straight with no modifier, of course the player is going to intercept it.

Totally agree it's a pain....I even had a glitch where i kicked a goal and the commentators even reacted as so.....then it randomly said it was out on the full and the camera got stuck behind the goals and the CPU took it down the other end and scored and there was nothing i could do hahah

hahah all good.....I bet Freo wish Ross was still their coach ha

I did read that somewhere here, but can't say I noticed it when playing. Jarrod Witts was nailing a team-mate at least 80% of hitouts and all the suns mids had stupidly high disposal counts
 
Hating the new patch to be honest.

You can't make marking harder, and increase congestion while handballing is still such a useless option when your players will handball the complete opposite way to what you want.
