Here in lies the issue with membership numbers.

it is not clear what is counted and what is not.

We have 50k members but we get around 20k to a home game. So we have 30k members who either frequently don';t go or when tallying memberships we have some sort of special calculator that you plug 20k into and it spits out 50k.

you can say that Tassie members would be unlikely to attend Melbourne games but even then you are only looking at 6k, and if you bump the attendance figure up by that we're still missing half our memberships attending games.

this is a long way of saying, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the parameters for counting a membership was:
  • issued by the club
  • grants access to a game

I'd guess a fair chunk of that 50k don't live within an hour or two of Docklands. If over 10% of our members are Tasmanian, I don't think it's crazy to suggest another 20% could be in regional Vic and probably another 10-20% interstate.

there's a whole bunch of interstaters on this board.

Due to living down the Surf Coast with young children, I automatically put a line through any of the Sunday Mid/ late afternoon home games we play. That tends to reduce the home games I attend from a possible 7 to maybe 2-3, and makes the idea of paying for anything more than a Family GA membership not worth it.

I remember calling last yr and they told me I was on a non advertised package too... sounds similar. Said was still paying a pre Covid price and if I changed I'd lose that pricing.... circa 460/yr level 2 aisle 34... so expecting to lose that this yr then

Yep, I think we're on the same thing then. You'll probably get the same whack but they're keen to help if you want to keep your seats. We're on the fence so I'm happy to ease into the dollars later to stay where we are, for the little bloke.

Similar; country driving blah blah..

I also get up Monday morning at 04:00-04:30 to drive to Crib point for work, so the idea of attending a late Sunday game, driving home with 2 children who have to attend school the next day doesn't work.

I'm one person who buys a membership and rarely attends. I live in Perth, but I continue to get a Premiership club membership because I love the club

Yeh I dunno if that’s funny or not but we’ve been reading about the tears over moved seats for pages and what the next rung down can’t complain about double increases in price?
I think it was a poor attempt at humour from gk.

SpiderBurton22 yeh I’m just flabbergasted that this increase happened without any consultation it is the Invoice the consultation?

Yeah, it's blatant opportunism. Hike the prices, don't tell anyone then expect them to fork out the cash.

I see a basic 11 game membership is now $250, which is a saving of about $4 a game if you bought yout tickets at the gate.

Considering how often I can get to the footy I'm considering just forking out for a 5 game membership for the 1st time.

Ok. Thanks, looks like another change.

Waiting for SEN membership day is probably the cheapest option.

So I just rang and all sorted back to a 11 Game Membership with the explanation being an AFL error in the Invoice pricing.

Someone else's fault? Ummmm - ok.

Serious that’s wat the bloke said to me. I don’t think I was the first caller and probably not the last unless you start your BBQs with $7 notes

Just got a phone call from the Membership department telling me they'd made an error in my invoicing.

I paid $299 for this years and they invoiced me $439 for next. They have corrected it and my membership for next year is now $349. They told me it was an AFL issue too.

Mine went up 20-25% so I called and asked them to confirm that it was accurate. Apparently, I'd been on some covid discount plan for the last 3 years. I don't want to treat them like an insurance company, but I dunno if I am happy to outlay so much extra after the year we just had. And likely won't be much better next year.

Same

I said Nar

Basic 11 Game thanks…$350 still ridiculous for Country Members

I was on a 5 game membership which has been discontinued. I called membership and found I had been upgraded to an 11 game membership with zero correspondence. I wouldn't have known until my automatic payments started. I only called because of all the feedback on this thread. Pretty ordinary by the club.

I'm downgrading and emailed the club. I had a reply and phone call within 48hrs as to why. Funny that.
