Maybe we did it to slash a few hundred thousand off the deal?Is there any substance to these rumours about McKay's medical being questionable?
Allegedly there is concern about his knees lasting long term.
True story or just more click bait?
Sources close to the sauce tell me Ralph has a dodgy brain
A player that will be in the AFL‘s Hall of Fame, who got a golden-eyes massive deal = a million for 10 years.. provided pick ~18Dream scenario....
McKay announces hawks and despite all the media bluster, contract spits out band 2 because of a whole bunch of triggers. I honestly can't see us offering anywhere near band 1 guaranteed, but I am prepared to be shocked.

Then Ben Mckay gets pick 3
This is not equalisation. It is hurtful and wrong.
The AFL are known to have their, “secret herbs and spices”. How’s about we know that!
OR are the Elite of the AFL too much above us
fairness has gone.

Wasn't it as simple as being the selection after our R1 pick in 2013, as it will be for Norf in 2023?A player that will be in the AFL‘s Hall of Fame, who got a golden-eyes massive deal = a million for 10 years.. provided pick ~18

The crying I believe is because there was a rule for exceptional circumstances resulting in better compensation. 60 year trillion dollar deals didn’t trigger that.I don’t get the crying here. We got pick 19 for Buddy because we had pick 18 in the draft BECAUSE WE WERE FRIGGING PREMIERS. We turned that pick into Ben McEvoy who played in our next two premierships. Norf won’t win a premiership until Brent Harvey’s grandson is playing for them.
The compensation pick is based on the side’s draft pick, not the quality of the player leaving. Sydney ****ed with the system that could have allowed us to force a trade and got subsequent draft penalties. Buddy never won another flag, we won another 2. We won - and here you are 10 years later still having a cry?

Yeah and to prove it was an exceptional circumstance, it's been that decade and no offer has eclipsed it, despite tpp increasing. The crying I believe is because there was a rule for exceptional circumstances resulting in better compensation. 60 year trillion dollar deals didn’t trigger that.
100% agree… this is the equalisation policyWasn't it as simple as being the selection after our R1 pick in 2013, as it will be for Norf in 2023?
You may have a case if this year's premiers lose a free agent to Band 1 compensation and then receive anything other than pick 19 as compensation.
Edit: I'd initially clicked 'Like' to your post when I actually meant to click 'Reply',,, don't dislike the post, though; just disagree with it.
But are they? The conspiracy theories on this board are ******* crazy...
Exactly. There is an exceptional circumstances allowance where if the formula fails significantly the AFL can decide the compo.
$10m wasnt enough to be considered exceptional. Even though 10 years on we still havent seen anything close.
this is the equalisation policy
Ned, all of what you said is clearly historically correct.I don’t get the crying here.

Ridiculous comment. It is both and you know it.It’s not an equalisation policy - it’s a compensation policy. Different concept entirely.
