Has any club won a GF without a gun or three?

Would the Pies who were very good this year won all of their finals without DeGoey? I doubt it.

Would the Tigers won all their flags without Dusty? They had 3 or 4 stars that got them there that plus having the fortune to peek when other teams were not.

St Kilda needs some guns. All clubs who want success need some guns. Hopefully it will be Max, Nas, Owens and the Poo alongside Sincs.

At least for the present we are going on the Grow our own Guns approach. As our picks this year and most likely the next several will be a weak draft hand it looks like we will need the quantity over quality approach of churning through multiple youngsters to find some top end talent, as well as just AFL level players.

Players like Dow and Henry I see as good pickups to fill current gaps. moreso that seeking the next gun. Hopefully they grow and excel, but even if they are just reasonable at what we need that will be good.

And possibly clearing the books to land that gun Restricted free agent next year, without cooking the books again

I think Carlton are chasing points for next years draft, hence we will on trade Fremantles F4th for Dow.
Trade Coffield to Bulldogs for pick #40 or a F2nd
Billings to Melbourne for F3rd.
On trade picks #35 & #40 to GCS for #24 or picks #40 & #56 to GCS #32

Cool. The past 2 years we also didn't do a trades because the asking price was ridiculous or we didn't like the return.

Is it that hard to just be happy we got a trade done instead of needing to turn everything into an opportunity to be a miserable prick about the past?

Doogs literally top ten kick in the League, part of the best defence in the League, saw what happened with Cordy playing his role against a quality team.

Geez I wish we would take a risk and trade next year's first for one this year. Get another kid in now and get the development into him. We need more young guys to emerge at the same time as Owens Poo Windy and Nas.
I'm backing us to improve this season so why not risk it and go for it? Especially when everyone is doubting us. Someone might feel like our 24 1st is going to be very high.

Just remember who we still have to come in though.
You’d think Dow and Henry will be straight in already.
Then….Hotton, VanEs, Heath, Keeler all still developing and waiting.
Then 4? draft picks.

Future 2nd for Henry seems to be about right. Both clubs going the future 4th despised so they can claim the old “it’ll be an upgrade for us based on our and their 2024 ladder position”.

Only time will tell who actually wins out on that though.
