I think we win if we get Adelaides 10 and 14 in this scenario. That's a sweet deal.

I think adelaide would want something back if they give us 10 and 14, they would probably push for 25 back and we would rather give a future 3rd or something.

I cant imagine we take more than 4-5 picks so kroeger 50/50 unless we want his spot for a dfa etc.

If he wasn't on our VFL list, we'd have 0 awareness of him, he doesn't stand out. At least House stood out, was younger too.

I thought we were 100% going to get a C grade replacement for Ceglar now that he has retired.

But now I'm not so sure. We may well still might get a state leaguer very late in the draft or rookie draft. But it makes me think of 2020 when Stanley was injured of parts of the year and the MC decided to ruck Blicavs and Esava rather than play Fort.

If we have no intention of playing the backup even if Stanley/Conway are injured, which would be the whole point of having them on the list, then why bother even recruiting one in the first place?

Look Chris Scott will always be the better coach all of us... but when CS never played a genuine ruckman, that was one if my biggest issue I have on him when he does...

Are you talking about VDH? He’s played a lot of footy including at vfl level just not at geelong. At 25 I’d have thought there would be better options, he’s not even close to the best key defender in the vfl.

I think I need to see more of him. There are aspects of him that one might say are Milburn and Enright ... so if he becomes anything like them you woudl love to draft him. As I have maintained... I trust the clubs judgement to pick BA but something leaves me unsure about him... Maybe it was the clip where he kicked 5 goals but hardly took a strong over head mark. Both Dasher and Boris were strong marks. I looked at the clip of someone like Morris ..and I could see him being a strong marking player but he probably is deficient in other areas. In the end ..the clips just are too abbreviated for some players.

I remember when we took Pods... guys like Scarlett expressed to the club that he should be in the system after matching up against him. I wonder how BVH goes against Hawk and Jez. I agree that even full time VFl guys probably do not get the advantage of training as a full time athlete as players who are listed.

Good point, I remember reading about Hawkins pumping up SDK over COVID for how hard a match up he was at training for a young kid who was hardly playing any substantial footy. Not a bad eye the big Hawk

I don’t think he gets a contract. But as you say maybe some chance depending on how draft goes

i wouldn’t be suprised (if they allowed) if cats leave 3 spots for later. Or at least 2. For SPP and MSD

I think so.

As good as he is, he's just not a valuable enough commodity to trade what in all likelihood will be pick 1 or 2.

I was speaking to an Eagles mate recently, and he said if Curtin was a legit gun key forward (Like Walter) he'd do it in a heartbeat.

Local kid, and that extra year of developing rather than waiting another 12 months can't be understated in terms of fast tracking a rebuild.

The problem is he's a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none right now. He looks like he could be a gun at any position on the ground...but it's not concrete enough from an Eagles perspective.

Every chance he ends up being just a really good half back flanker, and while that's still great, it's not pick 1 worthy were his thoughts.

What makes you think he is going to be a flanker? He measured in at 197cm

I understand what you are saying. And agree with the first point. But that is because I have no interest in vfl other than watching our young afl players.

But he is on our list and I got to watch 16 or so games. Mostly live. I wasn’t watching for him (again I was myopic on afl listed players) but he did stand out to me.

He got 4th in vfl bnf and impacted games.

He is not an afl player at this stage and given his age it is likely he does not turn into one. But I have no problem if the club uses a speculative pick on him just in case his late development can be accelerated.

I do worry that skills/decision making is hard to fix at his age but…. He does have some good defensive attributes.

If we can find someone better then I won’t stress. But equally I will be happy to give him a crack.

You could be right ...just opinion after all. What WC do is very much unsure at this stage.Reading this morning it seems WC is more likley to keep P1 and then trade their Fr1 to get Curtin...

The way this reads we are a legit chance to see Curtin slip thru under certain circumstances. Does Melb trade into next year with a chance of getting P1 2024... or do they take P6. .. If it got to us ... trading for a chance to have P1 next year would be extremely tempting .... yet listening to gettable yesterday ..it said geelong were a chance to have 4 or 5 picks. Could ewe do that with only 25 and fruit loops? We would probably have trade into the draft somehow.

The Eagles could trade their future first-round pick (from the 2024 draft) for Melbourne’s pick six if Western Australian gun swingman Curtin had not been picked in the first five.
