1. I am not a troll, so don't flame me :)

2. I spend as much time on your board as the Bulldogs one, mainly to read the SANFL/potential draftee stuff. Some of this is on the nose and some is baloney, but you get that.

3. I have many mates who barrack for the Crows and also a few mates "in the employ" of the AFC (point being so don't flame me :))

Probably been discussed before, but do any of the Crows fands find the nick name "the team for all South Australians" either arrogant or antagonistic?

I just don't get the point of it.

I find it really rubs me up the wrong way.

Exhibit A: I was born and live in SA, but have always barracked with a passion for the dogs originally due to a strong family connection.

Exhibit B: Did I read somewhere that 30% of the population of SA barrack for the Power?

Exhibit C: there is a vocal minority who follow other AFL clubs for whatever reason.

Would "the team for MOST South Australians" be more realistic?

The point of it is to be antagonisitc, especially towards Power supporters.

It is a little alienating to Crows fans who aren't South Australian, but it's not something I'm losing any sleep over.

I am a born and bred south aussie but believe me i hate the crows with a passion and to a lesser degree port adelaide. I have always supported StKilda and was really turned off the crows in their formative years with the incessant media that they were (and still are) given I understand that living here I have to put up withit but to have it shoved at you ALL the time is way over the top. There are thousands of non crow and port fans living here. I do not believe that they are "the team for all South Australians"

I always thought it as we are a team that does'nt discriminate from where your footy origins are. That is whether you are a legs, bays or magpies supporter; we represent & embrace your history. We are a team made from ALL SANFL teams, so we are a team for ALL South Australians.

So what about my wife who was born and raised in Victoria who is a member/supporter of the AFC and her best friend who was born and raised in Victoria and is a member/supporter of the AFC and our other friends that were born in Victoria and are members/supporters of the AFC????

I didnt say it was perfect - it was just my understanding.

Personally I like it as it riles Powder supporters.

yeah but you could still be a AFC fan if you want, thats what the slogan is on about its a team that ALL south australian fans can barrack for, not just the SANFL individual clubs - Especially Port.

it is probably fairly pointless these days with the amount of non-sa fans but still i'm sure they understand.

That's cool - please keep making that the AFC raison d'etre!

Exactly why I don't like. I enjoyed how much it riled PAPS as much as anyone else at the time, but its kind of dumb.

We should unite under the banner of The Chosen One.

its been around since the inception iirc, to help bring supporters from the SANFL.

More as a rally point - us vs. the rest of the country.

I dont mind it.

Well when the AFC has regular 3000-5000 attendences at games in Victoria where do you think most of them live????

Do you also want us to drop the 'Adelaide' from our club name as well?

FFS, its not like it says 'the team only for South Australians'.

"ohhh where the pride of south Australia"

State colours

Crows- Croweaters (state team nick name)

Based in South Australia

'The team for ALL South Australians'

It doesn't say the team 'only' for South Australians

Being an AFC member that lives interstate (nor was I born in SA), I kind of think it alienates more than just Power supporters. But hey, I'm not losing sleep either. I'd just prefer it to be INCLUSIVE (as this years motto declares).

What happenes when that motto changes???? Our inclusive goes out the window:(

Realistically though, those who follow the Crows from interstate have a good reason usually. (ex pat South Aussies, or married into it etc...). They arent generally attracted by a slogan. South Australia is the primary market for membership for the Crows.

Slogan was developed since Port came into the comp and is purely there to create an us and them mentality, it is as simple as that.

Well... how does your club marketing itself as representing the WHOLE of the Western Suburbs of Melbourne sit with you? Surely not EVERYONE in the Western Suburbs is a dogs supporter!

FWIW I am born and bred in Victoria, but I have no issues with the slogan. For me, I just kinda add a bit on the end... "the team for all South Australians, plus a small minority of people from other states who wish to support a professional, classy organisation without fear of state boundaries":thumbsu:
