The whole thing has stunk from day 1 that Houston was pushed out.
Houston was literally tweeting PAFC4ever about five weeks ago and was on radio saying that he didn't want to leave.
Port clearly believed that Perryman was a done deal so they thought they could be smart and encourage Houston to explore his options. Perryman would then come in as a like for like replacement for Houston and Port could get themselves back into the draft this year.
Once Perryman fell through there was most probably way too much water under the bridge to go back with Houston so they had no choice.
Seems like Port have outsmarted themselves and got their hands caught in the cookie jar.
Still they have got 1 more day at trade table to try and work something with the picks they now have
