Love Bond , reckon he misses if max comes back too

Wouldn’t surprise me if nicks picked Bond over Nank but I wouldn’t do that

What happens with Draper ? He’s knocked door down hasn’t he ? Does Curtin start sub ?

Draper has to play , sub at worst but even that’s silly
Curtin sub, I think. Hate debuting players as sub

But I do feel part of the reason Draper looked so good was due to fresh legs. Should play every week, but wouldn’t be upset if he was sub every so often

Might be part of his back issue management re some sub games

I think Curtin sub , can play forward wing or mid and impact

Draper coming on in second half as sub in hot game hot weather round - could be devastating though

I'd be moving out Laird, with what we have in our D50 we can afford Bond
It’s a fair viewpoint, but we clearly won’t do that

Maybe possible later in the season if Laird takes Smith’s path and looks super cooked (he’s not there yet, but it’s a possibility)

I didnt watch the game - can you tell me how he went?
His 2nd quarter was v poor , he was pretty good otherwise and nowhere near as bad as reported on here

Key contest win late was important

Tipping him to have a much better season in half back role than last years horror show

Bond will be unlucky if he misses, great defensive job tonight. I think he’s next man up in defence, so he’ll still play a lot of games this year, assuming injuries

Bond > Michalanney
Pedlar > Rachele
I can't see Nicks omitting Laird, but I'd play Bond ahead of him if MM is fit. Like I said last week, he did a terrific job on shutting Higgins out of the game last time so he knows how to play him well. I thought Laird was ok last week, but he didn't impress me tonight at all.

Be very tempting to pick Bond to play on Higgins

Did not watch at all. Could someone please tell me about Curtin, Keane and Murray?
Keane was good in contests , barely saw him lose one but had some turnovers and dropped a mark in goalsquare uncontested with slippery ball

Curtin was a bit quiet still finding his way and confidence , shows little signs of Joe good he will be . I’d just show huge faith in him and build him up and tell him how good he is and just play him , even if sub

Murray was beaten in some contests and had 2 shocker turnovers by foot but also some really strong moments

Worrell was my pick of tall defenders complete game

Anyway, thoughts on the match.

All the main key forwards looked good at various points today. Tex early, Thilthorpe popped up throughout and Fogarty as the game wore on. Very promising for this season and if he stays healthy, Thilthorpe is going to be the best key forward in the league by the end of the year.
Soligo looked fantastic in the first half. Seems we lowered his usage in the second to protect him for round 1.
Peatling was industrious. Our midfield looks a whole lot more dynamic with him as that third-fourth inside mid.
Rankine got through this match. Also bodes well we seemed quite effective offensively against a good team with Ranks
being middling.
Hinge and Worrell looked fantastic off the half back line.
Nankervis played well again. Won a round 1 spot for my money.
Big game from Dawson. Was rusty early but worked his way into the contest well.
Cummings didn't get injured, which is all I wanted from this match from him.
Neal-Bullen just does a lot of good things. Seems the type you don't really appreciate until he's yours.
Bond is growing on me as a small defender. Just seems the next Luke Brown type who you can just take to the bank as a reliable defender.
Pedlar had some good moments, but got worse as the game went on. I think he's a candidate to drop out of the best 22, but still, I'm just glad he got through unscathed.
Murray and Keane had a very similar game. Defensively, a lot of good, but there were a few horror moments to wipe out a lot of the good work. I'm willing to write this week off and say they'll be better for the run.
ROB looked really good this week. Long may it continue.
Laird... yeah, tough one. Had an awful first half, just looked off and was the umpires favourite target. I do reckon he improved in the second half and had some nice moments. However, his spot should be in danger with Michaelanny coming back.
Curtin struggled tonight. Wasn't a game for a four tall forward line and didn't get the supply needed, nor did he get the wing minutes to get into the game. No reason to panic though.
Keays was similar, just couldn't get involved tonight. No reason to panic though.

Game plan wise, I thought offensively we looked quite sharp, especially on the counter which was our bread and butter in 2023. Defensively, I also think we were solid, but not as good as I'd like, however a part of that is just how good Brisbane is offensively.

Finally, Sid Draper. Matchwinning performance in the fourth, and has to play round 1 off that. We've got one.

I didn't see the Curtin hype, looks like we still don't know where to play him.

I think the bigger problem is we simply don't need a Curtin type this year. Still, got to get 20ish games into him, but he's a 2026--27 piece more than someone for 2025 or one that's almost waiting for an injury or two to open up a niche.

JFC, are you Rorys mum?

He was abysmal in the first half, I reckon Murray got him at half time because he was less awful but if we are serious, it's time for Rory to find some form in the magoos

Also got to remember, he's 18 and his first proper game of AFL against the reigning premiers. Cool, calm and collected. He's going to be a star. Future 300 gamer 😎
