Given how often i use tomato sauce it's not a bad idea, but it doesn't lessen the taste either.

Its like putting your car in a garage, helps longevity and performance.

How else do you get a 10yo bottle of sauce that might be edible?

As someone who gets the odd snag at Bunnings, my ratio always favours mustard. I'm really just eating mustard with a side of bread and sausage. Pastries are sauce country though. A lot of those are just inedible without tomato sauce.
