It's Sauce Day!
Adelaide families keep the Italian tradition alive
In a warehouse in Port Adelaide, Michael Altamura is up early preparing for Sauce Day.
It's an annual celebration that is as much about family, as it is about the 1,400 jars of preservative-free passata he produces.
"There's about five families all together", Altamura said. "Everyone gets into it".
No mention of fridge or cupboard, they must want to keep the arguments down to a minimum

Yeah, if you're going on past performance, that's pretty fair. We were bottom four last year.
Except when it says "Keep refrigerated after opening" on the bottle.Becuase it’s just assumed everyone knows it’s cupboard.
That’s because they boil it, which preserves it so it can stay out of the fridge, however once opened it goes in the fridge like tomato sauce.I saw this and just had to post it

What do you think is going to happen, other than enjoying it more?Except when it says "Keep refrigerated after opening" on the bottle.
At some stageDo you think you’re going to die?
Tomatoe sauce might be different with the preservatives, but pasta sauce would definitely go mouldy.Do you think you’re going to die?
I read sauce, didn’t see about pasta sauce.Tomatoe sauce might be different with the preservatives, but pasta sauce would definitely go mouldy.
The sauce will probably go off more quickly in the pantry. Why else would it be labelled that way? What do you think is going to happen, other than enjoying it more?
Me, sometimes I want to cool things down, especially lava hot pies.Who wants 4deg chilled tomato sauce on their nice hot snag it’s just not right
Now I thought we were talking about sauce and not pasta sauce, so happy for that to go in the fridge. The sauce will probably go off more quickly in the pantry. Why else would it be labelled that way?
I’m talking about tomato and bbq sauce. Haven’t noticed use by dates on sugar. Now I thought we were talking about sauce and not pasta sauce, so happy for that to go in the fridge.
Packets of sugar also have a used by date.
Yep leave it in the cupboard and it’ll be fineI’m talking about tomato and bbq sauce. Haven’t noticed use by dates on sugar.

That's just silly...Packets of sugar also have a used by date.
Smart buggers. I used to watch as they worked in teams on the bins when I was at uni. I'd sit there for an hour (sitting outside studying (and perhaps having a durry or two - back in the days when that was still allowed) and just watch how they worked together and shared in the spoils.

Don’t listen to the heathen FR0GGY
Yeah you do, or you should. The frog is right, you don't put tomato sauce in the fridge.
Yeah you do, or you should.
Given how often i use tomato sauce it's not a bad idea, but it doesn't lessen the taste either. No, you don't. Well, you can, if you prioritise longevity over performance.
