He needs to do that to be a must pick that will mean you can't win the comp unless you have him. I don't think heeds to do that to be a "fine pick". Agreed he will be very good and will have some great captain scores.

The tough run is really only the first six rounds, which, combined with his bye, means I'll fade and hope to upgrade to him early.

Nothing wrong with the pick, just think people should be careful with must picks.

Be interesting to see what happens next week. They don't really have a defender on the bench. But does Jdaicos get pushed forward when Houston is in? Priced at 90 so probably too expensive to speculate, but I can see him going 100+ as a seagull.

We’ll roll 7 defenders - Moore and Reef on two bigs
Howe intercepting 3rd tall
Maynard on best small
IQ on 5th forward
Jaicos and Houston rotating as the 6th defender playing loose as much as possible
When one of the other 5 are on the bench, expect Houston to take IQ/Maynard position and Jaicos to play as the 6th defender

What’s everybody strategy this year with the 5 boosts?

Boost early to correct rookies?
Save the boosts for the byes?
Save the boost for the finals?
Save the boosts for injuries?
No set plan will play it as it comes?

Use 5 by Round 5. Cash gen is king. Race to full premo.

Perryman is in 25% of teams. It's going to very interesting to see where that goes after today's game. If he drops a 120 today like he did in the praccy match, that will rise well over 30%. I reckon in this role his floor is high, 75-80. If he drops something like an 84 today, it makes things interesting.

I'm bored. Slow day (pun intended). So I ran the numbers.

If Naicos scores....
70 (Bedford tag)
127 (Port, average last 2 years)
147 (WB, average last 2 years)

... he'll be $637k (up $6k) before his bye.

Will Day wil get to approx $558k if he can average 120ish over the next 3 weeks (but will possibly also have the Bedford tag, and maybe even a Hewitt tag).

By then, why would you trade Day? If he's going 120, he stays. HUGE IF though.
Even if you did trade him at this point, it will still cost $80k'ish to do it, so it's only a $60k'ish saving from starting teams for 1 trade used.
That's if Day breaks the tag that Naicos didn't!

For me, there's too many variables with tags and the hope Day can maintain a 120 average, all the while death-riding Naicos.

Not worth worrying about avoiding that 1 bye missed for 1 premo score.
I'll be happy saving the trade, and taking a punt on Knevitt on the ground while Daicos sits on the bench.
It's a best 18 round anyway.

IMO Naicos is a MUST start, even with the bye!

I have ND now. If I switch to Day, I put 140k in the bank. If it costs me 80k to sideways, I profit 60k and gain 70-80 overall points in Round 3. That 70-80 points is around 10,000 ranking spots at that stage of the year. ND will outscore Day for the year, so what Day is averaging post Round 3 is irrelevant. What this move requires is discipline and the trade post Round 3 no matter what (unless ND injured of course). If ND didn’t have a round 3 Bye, you’d clearly start with him. It’s about maximising points in Round 3.

IMO it’s doubtful ND will score more than Day in Rounds 1&2 than Day will score more than a rookie in Round 3 - that’s effectively the gamble.
