Without a doubt the worst game we’ve played since Fly has been the coach.Limp,listless,lifeless.Just pure crap actually. No positives at all.Back to the drawing board.Hopefully the players will actually turn up for next week’s game.
You must not have watched the Hawthorn game late last year, we were better than that today, still pretty shit but nowhere near that level

Perryman had plenty of ball but late in the game I saw he was going at 59%. Needs to be better than that moving forward.

Lipinski’s knockers are mostly those who have him as their designated whipping boy

He was ok, not great. Just…ok

I thought Long and Allan were perfectly fine given the circumstances. Not sure why so many are focused on those two

I’d argue the most disappointing player relative to their norm was Darcy Cameron

Dude didn’t even have a real opponent for three quarters of the game and still somehow got obliterated and played really poorly

But realistically? Outside Perryman, the other 22 players ranged from ok to deplorable
Cameron not relative to the norm.🤣. You are clueless. Was fantastic today.. I would hope about 15 of his teammates were deemed not relative to the norm today .. we get up by 5 goals minimum.

Kane Cornes the absolute flog is now going after fly for something that Corn saw on his screen that he has no idea what was said and that fly has said was nothing.
FMD corn is the biggest flog in the AFL Media.
Cornes only opens his mouth to change feet. I don’t generally pay attention to a word he says.

I don't bother listening to anything Cornes says. He's just a glorified troll stirring the pot. It's what he's paid to do.

Round 0 against the GWS on their homeground, again for the second year running....incredible misfortune wouldn't you agree? Never expected us to win this game regardless of their outs (especially coming off that joke of a practise game with the Richmond Under 18's C-team). And when the GWS lost their ruckman early I knew we'd use it as a catalyst to desintegrate rather than sieze momentum.

The fact is that we are regressing as a functional team since the flag. The premiership bathwater is still being consumed by many 18 months later. We refuse to chase, tackle and pressure the opposition and I don't mean as individuals but the pack hunting mentality of 3 or 4 every time. We refuse to run in numbers and support each other when the ball hits open space or the opposition breaks out. We cannot move the ball quickly by hand, foot or legs against serious opposition, often holding the ball up and kicking long to contests. And I am tired of watching us kicking long to the right of screen after every fukcing behind, change it up, go left or up the middle or something different to keep them guessing, so damn predictable now (this worked in 2023 but no longer).

We sit back too often waiting for turnovers. We have become a reactive football team and today looked exactly like Round 0 2024 but worse in all aspects. Unless a significant change in attitude happens it will be another failed season in the making. We have alot of problems to address and it starts between the ears. Jaicos, Lipinski, IQ, Sidebottom, Moore, Maynard, Crisp, McCreery, Hill, Elliott, WHE have all dropped off 10% and that 10% is all supportive pressure acts. Add some greenhorns around them like Allen, Long and a few newbies in Membrey, Shultz, Perryman and McInnes (as a defender) and you end up with soggy porridge, not crunchy nut cornflakes. We look soft, slow, confused, disjointed and clueless.

A 52 point defeat in Round 0, let that sink in. I feel we are already at a crossroads here. We are at the mercy of satisfied senior players who may not be terribly hungry for more success. If this is the case then we are in big trouble.

There’s a stench at the club. Started with the seats at the G and continued into the selling of the farm to get Schultz. Now we have thrown away our future for players that really didn’t fill a need. Need to get rid of the stench……lead the way Ned!!!

Houston Feels a Need as Elite User in Backline - Perryman doing a Great Job in the Tom Mitchell Role and Membery we need Forwards even with him having a Shocker as well

Dropped of 10%. It’s round 0. Was a very ordinary performance, but seriously.

And Round 0 2024 was also a "very ordinary performance" and we know how all of that unravelled. We shouldn't sweep this under the carpet and think all will be fine next week and beyond. I would say we may have dropped off more the 10% since the flag tbh.

Just wow on your opinion on DC.

Seriously, that is bonkers.

What’s bonkers is the level of reading and comprehension on display in this thread.

I didn’t technically even say Darcy Cameron was bad. Although I definitely don’t think he was good.

But relative to his usual standard combined with having literally no genuine opponent for three quarters of the game, I thought he was disappointing.

It’s hard to find positives in what was dished up today, but if that’s the standard then let’s start ripping some of the bandaid off.

I was as optimistic as anyone about the season but that’s completely vanished.

The midfield needs to be addressed ASAP. We are way too slow. We can’t run all of Perryman, Pendlebury, Lipinski, Long and Sidebottom in there simultaneously. Just one is enough. Get Crisp, Allan, McReery, and Elliot in there. Hell, even get IQ in there. JDG back soon certainly helps, although I’m not too optimistic about how his body will hold up.

Our defensive transition needs work. Too many times the opposition just sliced through our zone, and moved the ball from end to end with ease. We’re way too aggressive with our positioning, that when the ball is turned over, they are open players everywhere. It’s an issue that plagued us last year that still hasn’t been fixed.

Another issue that we haven’t addressed is our forward connection. Goal accuracy didn’t help, but compared to GWS, goals for us were hard-fought. This is on the coaches as well as it is on the players. The list averages over 100 games experience amongst themselves. They need to show it. Change the angles, and lower the eyes. Don’t be too stagnant and predictable to the opposition. Also, don’t play into their hands.

I’ve defended Schultz since he’s been at the club, but he’s had 12 months to get up to scratch. Some of his decision-making and execution are not even AFL-standard. I don’t care how much we gave up for him, if he doesn’t perform at the level that he is required, then he should be playing in the VFL.

Thankfully it’s only March 9th and there were some little positives. But we’d wanna get busy real soon if we wanna be in contention.

When push comes to shove, I hope Fly makes some hard calls and makes some of our veterans really earn their spot.
