I’ll probably get booted out of here and by all means I’ll go on the record that I would never support such a team but imagine we merged with our Silver spoon neighbours 😳
I'd be OK if we became the Collingwood Magpies who wore black and white - kept their best 5 players and torched the rest of it like a dodgy smokes shop.

Wash your mouth out!

Footscray is the Western Bulldogs, runs at a profit and has been in 2 GF’s in 9 years.

St Kilda/Melbourne is even more hilarious. Culture matter. Private school twats and pool playing cigarette smokers at the Social Club would quite be something.
You must've missed the reference I made to a merger in a geographical sense.

Say what you like about those 'private school twats', but they're 11 premierships ahead of you. Maybe a Footscray/St Kilda merger might be more culturally appropriate because, well, apparently it matters.

Oh in this specific game the inaccuracy was just an excuse. We’ve won plenty of games kicking inaccurately.

If we had lost this game by say, 20 points. Then you could blame inaccuracy. But if you flip 6.16 to 16.6 we still lost lol

Even if we kicked straighter? They would have just won it out of the middle and scored when they needed to anyway.

The problem wasn’t inaccuracy. The problems were no pressure, no defensive effort anywhere across the ground and terrible transition. Among other things.

Anytime we even looked like we might mount a comeback, they simply scored a goal or two to snuff it out.

We were never winning this game and no amount of accuracy was going to change that. Accuracy would have just made the losing margin smaller.
You don’t win games kicking 6.16. Certainly don’t beat good teams at their home ground kicking 6.16 or even 9.13

If we kicked 5.2 in the first qtr instead of 1.6 then it’s a completely different game. They wouldn’t have scored 3 goals in a minute towards the end of the qtr either, meaning we are up by 20 instead of down by 20.

Scoreboard pressure is on them and momentum is with us. Potentially they chase us instead of us chasing them. Instead they are up and feel confident to cheat a little and go forward of the ball and it pays off. We aren’t in that position because we are behind and have the yips in front of goal.

That’s a massive difference to the rest of the game and it was all caused by poor goal kicking. We may have still lost, but we would’ve been in the game and actually had a chance to win.

You obviously missed the other post I made where I said the first quarter is the one quarter where I can accept bad kicking cost us, for exactly the reason you mentioned

I can think of a 4 letter word to describe Toby which has a "C", a "U", & a "T".

Hint: It's not the word C U T E.
I'm all for the trash talking. He's not wrong either, just a fact.

And if he wants to leave a ticking time bomb for the Pies to set off later in the season, so be it.

He wasn't wrong at all.

I grant Toby begrudging respect but time will judge the wisdom of laying the boots into a defeated rival.

The talent the giants have is scary, they were missing their 2 best players on Sunday plus Jake Stringer.

The good news for us is I don't think they play the MCG well against a massive crowd
I rate the Giants highly, have for a while. But as plenty of teams find out, hitting your peak in March or April means nothing if you can't replicate in September.

Lions were shite early last year. Swans were romping it in for most of the year. And we all know what happened on GF day.

Well we can't really afford to start hitting our peak sitting at 2-5

The hysteria following Sunday’s game was hilarious. Muppets like Kane Cornes in the media just make me laugh, no accountability to anything they say and much of it is just pure rubbish that has no basis in fact or evidence. Pies dominated large parts of each of the 1st and 2nd quarters, and owned the 3rd quarter. But kicked terribly for goal, made some poor decisions going inside 50, gave
some easy goals from bad errors, had their best player out of action in the 2nd half, and then faded late in the first game of the year in very humid conditions away from home. Hardly panic stations. They will monster port this week at the G

We were pronounced favourites, GWS were missing more quality players than us. had shorter pre-season and ended up smashing by 9 goals.

As far as I'm concerned the heat applied to us is rather tentative, here's hoping it will be sufficient enough to prick our boys egos and stir them into action.

Big words from a skipper whose team coughed up 2 huge leads in last years finals series.
He was just saying what we all saw. In fact he went easy by only mentioning the last 15 minutes and them being fitter than us. The reality is that they were also faster all game as well as being fitter than us. There was a big gap in running ability between the two teams. We'll close the fitness aspect, but the pace aspect is something we'll have to mitigate against.
