Combine that with his WAFL stats and he’s kicked 77.55

9.17 at AFL level though. Perceived pressure maybe? Or more low percentage shots due to better defence?
Sounds a lot like early Treacy. Not saying he'll do the same (he's clearly an inferior field kick), but he could end up as an excellent third tall, even could be useful as a medium forward.

They were definitely better today, Johnson was solid without standing out and Erasmus looked a bit more comfortable at the level.

Still need to see more from them though, this is a pick 10 and pick 21 (in what appears to be a super draft) in their 4th seasons now. Haven’t seen anything yet that suggests either will be future greats.

What did you think of Harley Reid and Tim Kelly's games?

Slide some of that recognition towards Johnson and Erasmus for it.

Johnson particularly put a lot of work into wrestle distracting Reid and then working harder off the ball than him to be loose for a kick.

Thought both Johnson and Erasmus were handy, largely. But wasn’t watching very closely!

Frederick is a mystery to me - I remember him being a hard chaser and tackler a couple of seasons ago before getting injured, now he’s very half-hearted at it. What happened?

Sharpe… I thought he was an AFL player, now not so sure. Seems to have gone backwards.

Voss frustrates me. His kick is just too inconsistent. I’d have him and Amiss spending 2 hours a day every day taking turns kicking goals and retrieving the ball for each other, over someone standing the mark. Make it muscle memory, like how you see Serong automatically arrange the ball in his hands for a disposal.

I honestly don't know what anyone is seeing in Erasmus' game and I think Johnson is only marginally better at this point.

We butchered our go forward so many times.. We bomb too much, when we lower our eyes better things happen.

Sharp needs to play in the WAFL for a spell, looks timid and unsure of himself.

Aish > Worner

Voss belongs in the team, he will get better and he's already highly active.

Harley sucks ass..
Ras was great. He had 83% disposal efficiency from 18 disposals and tried all day in his 2nd full AFL game in nearly 2 years. Leave him in the team till we are full strength. I’d even drop Johnson for him first as I think it’s important to get him a block of 5 games to see what his ceiling is as he’s getting better every game.

Johnson had Harley’s number definitely. Harley seemed more interested in sooking and starting fights though, needs to grow up and focus on his footy.

Keeping Kelly quiet isn’t hard anymore, he looks completely checked out, a shell of the player he was. Reminds me of Jaidyn Stephenson, it’s getting sad now.

Like I said, they were solid today but need to see more going forward. Right now Johnson’s ceiling is Jarrod Berry and Erasmus’ ceiling is Lachie Weller. Hoping they can become more.

Erasmus was very strong on the inside. He reminds me of Dunkley at Brisbane, there’s nothing fancy, but he’s immense.

Johnson is starting to become a very very good footballer. At 194cm, with the length in his kicking and sidestep in traffic, his ceiling is very high. I can’t think of an exact replica, Bontempelli lite, but that’s too much credit. I think of Joel Corey back in the day, Jack Crisp another, but I think he could be better than both.

I'd take that

14 disposals. 9 after half time.
In the first half, 5 disposals and 4 turnovers.

When the sting had gone out of the game. He came into it.
One nice goal, one out on the full.

He plays half forward in a team that has poor pressure.
How many tackles did he have?

ZERO.
AGAIN.

HORRIBLE GAME.

So…one good goal does not make a good game

Not normally a stats man but…. Freddie also had 7 marks (equal highest with Voss), 2 contested marks, 5 inside 50s.
Surely HORRIBLE GAME is a gross EXAGGERATION.

While a tackle or two would be appreciated, it’s not really his primary role.

Does Dudley stay in the team for a good while now? Seems to offer something different in the forward line, I thought he showed some really good football IQ.
You can't drop him after that.. he was decent. If you offered those stats on debut to most players they would take it

Expecting greats at picks 10 and 21 is a bit much.
Erasmus is rising well. Needs a chance at consistency.
Johnson is underrated and just need to be more involved. He can be a decent run with player then can burst forward for a goal or two.

Definitely. Was surprised at how smart he ran and used the football.
Probably will get a few weeks before Switkowski will be preferred

Didn't Jonno do well on Harley?
Great to see Freddy get some more of the action.
Dogga is beginning to deliver. His 2nd efforts and ball winning in tight were terrific. And the marks!
Voss - I love this guy. Dear God, please help him with his kicking and I'll become a nun. Really.
Our Reid - already consistently involved and sooooooooo smaaaaaaaaaaaart. Best Reid on today.
Dudley - there are many reasons why Freo haven't won a premiership. Today we fixed the main one, our Wombat Deficiency. Go you good thing.
AmissandTreacy, AmissandTreacy, AmissandTreacy.
Serong and Brayshaw - they both needed to cut loose. Tick and Tick.
Bolton hasn't done any big things yet. But he does dozens of little things and they are amazing.
NOD could be a premier wingman.
We will soon have replacements for Worner, Banfield and Sharp.

At the end of the day we have a lot to improve on and the oppo weren't up to much.
But we're on the board.
Come on JLo, LFG.

So are the Voss misses at the moment just as much as likely as cox getting beaten 1v1 on the goal square

I’ve been harsh on Erasmus but today he was decent
Did the grunt stuff
Not a true test though , WC midfield was poor , they should trade Kelly and just bite the bullet .

Jackson blows my mind , freak talent , love going to the footy to watch him .

JT has everything I want to see in a footballer

Good to see Jye get a couple .

Bolton just needs to get that first one then they will start flowing , delivery to him is poor at times though

Lovely Dudley ✅✅✅

Finally - Murphy ***n Reid , I feel so comfortable when that kid has ball in hand

Unfortunately these days Freddy only seems to come good when the pressures off.
WC subbed a defender then McFatty went down. They were playing Harley Reid on Freddy and Reid doesn't know the meaning of 2 way running so Freddy could get off him. He did take some nice marks though and had a lovely run through the middle.

Similar Amiss really. Teams are putting a lot of work into him and once Gov was gone and Reid was playing back Their defense opened up and Amiss could start getting his game going. Hopefully he takes some confidence from it.

Not many have mentioned him but Chapman was very good. All the backs were good, Ryan back to something like his best.

Too many not smart footballers out there still but we starting to see what happens when you have the likes of Reid, Bolton, Dudley running around together. No substitute for players with footy IQ. Bolton was burned by terrible kicks into the 50, we so desperately need Young back. Nod played good but again, he burned some balls going into 50.

Brayshaw was good but gee some of his kicking inside 50 was terrible. Serong was the full package today.

Reid's long handball and his kicking inside 50 and really everything he does is elite.

Freddy should play wing
They need to trial this, he's pretty good overhead, can run all day and is a pretty good user. He get's a lot of shit but the guy plays small forward in the slowest tempo team in the comp with some of the worst delivery into the forward line to boot. But fair is fair. With his pace he should be putting on pressure at a high level and getting some run down tackles.

Dudley was great, good to see Jye head back towards form, defence good but Cox too easily beaten one on one, Voss is a great target but until he sorts his goal kicking he needs to be prepared to look for options. Skills and execution a bit woeful at times.

No I wouldn’t drop Johnno for him as Johnson is absolutely going to be vital as our 4th midfielder and we need to keep him developing as he ever so slowly is. The last three games have been his most consistently best games.

I would howver consider dropping JOM to give Ras a full 8 games or so as uouve suggested to properly asess him. I dont think we lose much by doing so and we know what we will get with the aging JOM.

JOM will not be dropped, he was amongst our best players in the first two games we played.

Thought Serong showed a lot of leadership around those potential spotfires that started up when we'd won free kicks around the ground and inside forward 50. A few of times he got players out of scuffles to stop them from doing something silly. Voss a couple of times.

Heard something post-match about him, can't remember who related it, but some young players at the club during the week said he was really angry, and he told them that's the way he always trains. (edit: it was from Longmuir's press conference)

Voss gave Treacy the poke in the eye from overcelebrating O'Driscoll's opening goal (a high 5 in the eye) which sent him off the ground for a while in the first quarter with loss of vision. Treacy was talking about it on radio after the game but just saw vision of it for the 1st time on the mini-match highlights.
