Just goes to show how stubborn and unimaginative JLo is as a coach. He never would’ve even considered sending Lobb back.
It's not like Bevo was rife with other options. If Allen towled up Amiss or Treacy on Sunday would we be calling McQualter a super coach?
Not one person on here on anywhere else to my knowledge was advocating for Lobb to go back. JLo has his limitations but you can't judge him on this with the benefit of hindsight.

Not sure this is the place to post this, but has anyone noticed that Jye Amiss has gone back to his early day of goal kicking.Coming off that shortened run and kicking from close to the man on the mark?
I noticed it in the Sydney game and it was more pronounced in the Derby.

His first two misses at goal he did. Got too close to the man on the mark. The set shot he nailed later in the game he went back further and nailed it. I called it before he kicked that he would nail that one.

In this scenario I probably wouldn’t want them to either. We’ve gotten progressively better each week (it’s a very low bar of course as we were utterly putrid week 1), but I think it would be dangerous to have so many guys coming straight back from injury one week.

I’m confident on Young, mainly because that a bloke that good usually doesn’t come through the WAFL… perhaps he’ll just play more time forward? And could even be a vest candidate depending on how the game is going.

Could Masten football? The supporters always thought he was useless.
He could definitely cover a lot of ground. He was a highly talented junior athlete. He won national junior titles in 400m, 800m and 1500m and set a couple of new state records.

He was good early but dropped off in his later years but that could be the change in roles that Simpson spoke about.

Sharp is a good long kick though. If there's an understanding you've got one player who 90% of the time will make a predictable kick deep inside 50m the forwards can still work with that. It's kind of same with Langdon at Melbourne who was a good premiership player.
Langdon could see the right kick, he just couldn't hit it at a decent rate. I'm not convinced sharp can see anything than a long kick down the line. Would also argue Langdon was a lot better in the contest than Sharp.

A concern with Sharp is that Amiss is a lead up forward which doesn't play to Sharps strength. If Sharp was kicking it to Alistair Lynch and Jonathon brown maybe we wouldn't really be talking about it.

Agree with all that and the concerns with Sharp's disposal gets exacerbated by carrying a couple of other players who have limited skill.

With 3 tall forwards we should be able to get one of them under a long kick and bring it to ground but there's also been a lack of crumbing forwards, which is why Dudley has gotten an early debut.

haha saw Masten last week. Few would recognise him in the street now. Has the homeless chic look going on.

Here is a random, radical and rainbow idea. Your starting position doesn’t need to be your ending position.

You could start somebody in the Centre square and then they move to high forward ie Bolton or Switta.

High forward starting position could act as a winger or work in the midfield. Freddy starts inside 50 and then plays the fat side winger.

A winger starting position could go into the stoppages or play as a high forward. Brayshaw starts on the wing and does he normal midfield duties.

The best 6-6-6 set up might be the best general play roles.

Under this system you only need one fat side winger.

To be fair the only reason the bulldogs tried it was because they had injuries and zero tall backs available so they had to try Lobb as he was doing nothing up forward and playing VFL

800K a year to play VFL. Lobb is also the epitome of trying hard when he's desperate. Contract years or requesting a trade he goes up a few levels. Nearly on the scrap heap was the motivation he needed to stop making tik tok videos.

Was pretty imaginative by playing Logue forward v Melbourne in 2022. All time win.
Logue leaving definitely allowed Treacy to settle into the side thought

He's literally the only ex-player I can think of who is genuinely disliked by a few players at the club who normally don't have a bad word to say about anyone.
