I pulled out the app and checked both mullin and picketts footage.

Mullin had him basically the first quarter. He misjudged and gave too much space for an entry that Pickett marked, but that kick had to be perfect to make it happen and unfortunately it was. He got sucked up the ground once and left Pickett behind. He also got stuck in no man's land once in an outnumber so had to leave Pickett.

Pickett went into the middle for the 2nd quarter and Mullin didn't really see him after that other than coming off his man once to lay a tackle on pickett to get a htb his way. Pickett was picked up by Zuth and Humphries when he pushed forward in the 2nd half, mostly Zuth.

Saw Mullin laying defensive efforts on Melksham, Sharp, Henderson, and Fritsch for the 2nd onwards. I think most of his time on the night with went into fritsch which probably explains why he had such a good night.

He got into a lot of space to provide rebound and it didn't seem to hurt us which says something about Melbourne's small stocks when pickett isn't there.

Melksham was playing?

One thing I've noticed is his positioning is outstanding, the complete opposite of SavRat whose was putrid.
Especially behind the ball or on d trans his positioning is almost always spot on.
He hedges 2v1s correctly, times his decisions perfectly, waits when he needs to, sets up correctly behind the ball and effectively communicates with his team mates during dead ball moments.
Star already.

The growth across just 4 games this season and belief in himself has been fantastic to watch

Go back to the Fremantle game and there was the odd moment where he seemed somewhat in two minds as too attack the ball for a mark or go the spoil to concede the behind, and in those moments of hesitancy is when ended up with a couple of scrappy ground ball situations in the Freo forward line

I'm taking a guess that someone had a chat with him in the days following that match, as there seems much more clarity in his approach over our next few matches - when he's been spoiling the ball he's doing it with authority & purpose

I think it was Tuohy on Krock post match Friday night that said fans need to somewhat tamper expectations for O'Sullivan as he's still a kid, still learning and developing, so he'll have those moments or the odd game where he may be down. So love the good and accept there'll also be the bad but don't jump off him when that happens

I put $1 on him at $101 after one of the pre season games. My only bet for the year so far.

My only winning bet last year was Dempsey at $17 to 1 so I’ve tried to stick to a theme
Ditto. Got Dempsey and COS at market opening for a liitle bit and added another little bit, as soon as nomination occurred.

I too rarely bet , but both were too juicy, and I can afford to lose 20$.

Dempsey I had watched for two years in the VFL and had 8 AFL games in his pocket. Couldn't resist. When Reid and Darcy went down he was home.

Still a long way to go for Connor but he is already in the media eye. Fingers crossed.

Tuohy's thoughts on O'Sullivan is to ground him in defence as we've been doing, he thinks we'll then see him on the wing and be developed as a tall utility as we did with Blicavs but with the knowledge he can always return to defence

In the past three games he’s grabbed a Rising Star nomination from his performance against the Saints in a losing cause; kept Eric Hipwood to just one goal at the Gabba and was amongst the best players against Melbourne on Friday night.

Manning Bayley Fritsch, Jacob van Rooyen and Daniel Turner at different stages, none of that trio recorded a goal during that time — O’Sullivan also received five coaches votes.
