Goldstein has been one of our best vfl players so far and with setterfield was best against Werribee.
I worry about our lack of speed with setterfield and Hobbs both playing

Yeah, Hobbs may have been a beneficiary of Melbourne's lack of intent. It was nice to see him play well but let's see how he goes against teams that won't give him as much time to dispose.

Going on that thought process, Goldy definitely has seen his best days, so you'd play the younger option wouldn't you? Goldy is break glass in case of emergency, i.e. we have no formal first ruck available.

I think at the least Scott will go Wright for Bryan, loves his talls too much.

Not so sure about this. Scott said at the start of the season that he thinks mobility in the forward line is more important than being tall. Wouldn't be surprised if Jones chops out and we just go with Draper. Wright isn't mobile at all, and when he tries to be he just gets pushed off his line.

In tsatis and Hayes, out Bryan and Settelfield. Play Hayes as a second ruck and forward. Settelfield played well but need to put time into the kids.

Setterfield allowed us to find space to operate around stoppages and had a direct hand in setting up at least 3 goals. I'd keep him in.

I'd be loathe to drop Hobbs after playing his best game. I want to see more of that Hobbs and better. He needs continuity.

Wins feel good, but we're not a finals team. This year should be a year of investment in younger players and finding out who we keep and who we chuck.

Give Hobbs a forward/mid rotation with Gresh.
Tsatas can share Hobbs' and Shiel's midfield minutes. Let Setters make space for Tsatas to show us what he's got.
I'm not worried about pace. Get it to the outside and find Duz, Merrett, Martin, Duurs and Hawaii. Menz and Kako also push up to high half.

Goldy may get the nod though as he has more of a fitness base having played the majority of VFL games in 2025, whilst 2MP is coming back from injury and his only recent hitout was a VFL practice match…
Outside of that maybe Tsatas comes in for someone - just not sure who...??

I reckon Perkins is either in the team or out. He barely impacts over four quarters, let alone sub. But we do need to find out if he can take a step up with his game and I think this year is it for him. He needs continuity.

I'd rather Gresh or Shiel sub, to make room for Tsatas getting mid minutes and/or Hobbs playing Gresh's role.

TBH wouldn't be mad if it's Goldy in for Bryan. Although we can probably just go smaller given the West Coast ruck situation isn't great.
