I'm furious rather than despairing.

For ****ing years, we've held onto talented but injury prone players. For ****ing years, we said they'd come good. We finally give up, finally admit it to ourselves that our nigh constant injury woes are at least partially our own fault because of the players we select, and we delist Martin, Cuningham and Marchbank. We change out our injury and rehab chief, bringing in someone who had the Swans fully fit and firing when they trounced us last year. We resurface our training venue. We select from the draft a player with no injury history, trading up to get him.

What ****ing happens to us?

Nic Newman's patella tendon done in preseason, a player who has played all bar two games from the last three seasons. Jagga does his in the second preseason game. Cinc hasn't kicked a footy in anger, and Fantasia played all preseason only to be unavailable for every game when it matters. Harry and Elijah have had to sit out for their mental health. Now Brodie's out for the season.

If I were in charge of the club - CEO and/or president - I'd be having the AFL come in as an independent auditor akin to how they swooped in to help Melbourne's football department and Nth's coaching and go through injury, rehab and conditioning with a microscope for the past 10 years; hell, see if the large hadron colider's available and examine it at subatomic level. Go in and get what's gone wrong, and ****ing fix it.

79 games lost to injury to date across the entire list from 276 potential games. Almost 30%. There wouldn't be a plot this implausible in a ****ing Marvel movie.

Why would the AFL know anything about injuries? That's not in their wheelhouse, surely.
If I was expected to be reasonable, I'd have posted it in the Intense Opinions thread, and the AFL has within it 17 other clubs who - arguably - do it better than we do. We cannot compell them to help, but the AFL via the player's association can.

When you have no idea and are sick of it, you ask those who do.

That's my point though, the AFL isn't one of those that do :tearsofjoy:

I doubt an AFL club would help but it wouldn't hurt to look at a club like the Melbourne Storm who are forever competing at the top end. Obviously training for different sports but it would be interesting to see what our program looked like in comparison.

Hate to be that person J but this is the chicken little thread, there is no room here for reason.
We, who like to vent would prefer our safe space unsullied by moderator rationale.

PS please don’t put me on a black list/dungeon 👍🙏🙋‍♂️

Hahaha fair, play on.

(I'm not a mod on this board so you're safe from me...;) )

Just think back to that Tigers game at the end of June last year. Top four or possibly top two at the time and looking like potential flag winners.

The downwards trajectory over the past twelve months since then has been soul destroying.

A big historically successful club with a lengthy premiership famine, and a long suffering fanbase subjected to false dawn after false dawn. We've become the Toronto Maple Leafs of the AFL sadly.

What happened to this team after qtr time against the Giants?

That first qtr was a Top 2 side playing scintillating football and then they fell off

As grim since the final days of Malthouse.

Very little youth coming through, we do still have good/talented senior players, but none of them are leaders. What they’ve shown the past couple of months is so far from a group capable of winning a premiership it’s not funny.

Very, very bad and I’m now leaning toward the need for a full rebuild.

How much will we lose by this week 😡🙁🫣. Anything over 100 will see the coach gone by Monday.
A win on the other hand…will not change a thing, coach gone on some other Monday this year.
Just another off season to forget the disappointment.
Turn the collar up and pull the hat down, brace into the freezing wind and driving rain, it won’t ease up for a while yet. 😢
