Autopsy North lose to Carlton.

Need to start playing players in their natural or preferred positions we recruited them for, even if it is bringing through others that are not at the same "talent" level. FOS is awesome, but I don't think played a half back role in underage, so play Hardeman and Bergman and let them fight it out with Fisher, Deniel, etc. FOS and McKercher can fight out a wing with Scott, Stephens etc...if they can't play mid... F*** I don;t know? How else are they going to develop players in their natural position and not have so many mistakes from guys who can't or never learnt to defend as a craft.

I got up at 6am this morning to drive the 523.5 kilometres from my door to Marvel Stadium.

Missed out on both AFL and North Membership tickets so spent $69 to sit in North Melbourne Closer to a Flag‘s Bay 29.

I bought a Toby Pink badge and a hat that, as it turns out, does not fit my head.

I sat next to Carlton supporters lactating over victories over two spud teams and letting me know alllllll about it.

I just got back to the car and decided to hang my scarf out the window for
a) my own perverse enjoyment and
b) to troll passing Blues fans as I tootle down Lygon Street on the way to mum’s joint.

With that kind of decision making you could be our captain.

I hate what this club has become.

I hate that my money funds this, and has for 20 years.

I hate that when we get decent players, they get norfed.

I hate that when we get shitmen, they get shitter.

I hate that when we get talented youth, they they get norfed.

I hate watching Larkey flop allllll day.

I hate watching our Captain constantly turn it over.

I hate that Zurhaar is considered tough and dangerous, he's the mascot of our shitness.

I hate watching squibs get game after game.

I hate that our best player is in his second year and has injury concerns.

I hate that I can't enjoy that same players great moments because it's surrounded by ineptitude.

I hate hearing commentators pity us.

I hate that we are married to this situation because we can't afford to pay out the coach.

I hate that the coach will come out with some trite passionless dross at the press conference.

I hate that we do this on a special day for sick kids, embarrassing.

I hate that I'm too stubborn to stop watching.

I hate the entire list build.

I hate watching the other team laugh on the bench.

I hate watching our rusted ons with their heads in their hands every single week.

I hate that we have put ourselves in this mess, it's on us.

I hate everything about this club that I love so dearly right now.

Agree with this and have said similar before. Hardeman should be playing 1's - came in, did ok, has always been a defender so should get a chance to deliver in that role. I don't mind FOS down back but as a distributor if there. We play way to many players in roles they have no idea how to play and it makes the next bloke over's job harder every time. It has to end, even if we have to play more limited players in the roles they are natural at.

Lots on here are actually football knowledgeable (or at least they think they are 😉) - so please can someone explain what’s wrong with our club?

Please don’t talk president and stuff like that. It’s more a football issue.

I for one think Sonja has been a great leader of the club and tried very hard to bring in the right people to steer the ship.

So what’s going wrong?

Do we actually have a bit of talent or are our players just not very good?

Can clarko actually coach still - I thought so but now I don’t understand.

Are we being taught a game plan that they can’t play?

Please help me understand what’s wrong with our club.
I'm no footy brain, but I'll have a crack:

Our movement out of defence is rubbish. It is a disorganised shambles. I partly blame the midfield for this - they are one way runners. They don't present. George's attack on the ball and repeat efforts shamed the whole side today.

Our forward line could be good, but we don't deliver it in there well enough.

Coaching is a huge issue. I don't think they have bought into the Clarko gameplan. I am sensing a rift. Also this constant handballing backwards actively attracts pressure.

But most of all it is above the shoulders. I think the team thinks it is shit and unworthy and so raise the white flag way too easily

5 players turned up today.
Wardlaw, Curtis, Xerri, Fisher and McDonald.
The rest were poor.
Griffin Logue the worst performance I’ve seen this year. Clearly is not fit and is not ready for AFL footy yet.
I'd add Ben Brown to that group, one of the few having a crack in a North jumper.

Clarko was cooked 5 years ago, when handover was announced at Hawks the players revolted and led to events that forced him out.

He has gotten worse at North, unfortunately for you guys, and is stealing a living without even being able to teach players how to defend, let alone follow a workable game plan.

You have some genuine talent and i believe need to move Clarko and get a new coaching team in place, to see some improvement.

Clarko struggled at Hawks from 2017 onwards, it is now 2025.

He is Sheedy mark 2, the game has gone past him. Problem is he is on $1m plus until end 2027...and will never resign. You are stuck with him.
I 100% agree. Saw it happen you blokes and seeing it happen here.

Please give us the answers to get out of this if we can’t draft decent players what can we do?
Are you suggesting that decent players can only be drafted in the top 3? We had plenty of top 3 draft picks running around out there today. I'm suggesting that more of them isn't what we need.

Fisher 2 pressure acts and 0 tackles and then does his hammy (again).
Xerri got absolutely pantsed today.
Agree with the other 3 who tried hard all day.

If you were around in 2007 you’d know North need to be eternally vigilant the AFL will fcku us like a chicken first chance they get, we need to be ready to go back to war if required

I get what you are saying but here are my problems with this-

*We all have to let 2007 go. The whole fiasco was largely led by our own board, Doc Aylett genuinely thought it was a great idea, that's one of the central reasons it got as far as it did + Demetriou was a Wayne Jackson protege, so inevitably his thinking had one foot in the outmoded Oakley era thinking, even making the same old mistake of failing to anticipate any kind of fightback, and also he was a c*nt and a crook and a business incompetent (have a look at his record post AFL) + we were swimming in debt and not member owned at the time. If they couldnt get us then, they aint getting us now. The league has moved on, so should we

* This largely Caro Wilson led Tas relocation stuff is bloody ludicrous. It started cos JB had a hairbrained scheme of taking of the Hawks Lonnie games as well as our Hobart games, and Gil Mclachlan commented he liked the idea because North could be a single team that "represented" Tasmania. i.e the AFL couldnt care less about having a Tasmanian team, was happy to give them a few crumbs from the table they didnt want, and only became interested when a stadium that someone else paid for was in the mix. There is no relocation back up plans, it's no stadium, no team.

*This is typical of our supporters, we care enough go to war against a fictional relocation effort that might happen in the future but routinely dont care enough to show up to games, even when we were half decent. We could try and organize some kind of supporters union like Collingwood, and go to the club and demand change, but no bastard would show up.

Everyone is panicking because we are now anticipating no one is going to show up for the rest of the season and our crowds will be beyond horrific. So rather than putting this on the outside boogeyman of the league head honchos, or other club bosses, what we really should be saying is that after the dogsnot the team served up today, WE have a huge choice in front of us whether we completely abandon the club wholesale.

In a time like today where theres no shortage of resources for elite sporting clubs, I cannot believe year after year we are still failing.

There genuinely needs to be a case study done on us.
