Correct made top 4 in 2018, but won last 4 games straight to get there and went out in straight sets meekly to Tigs and Dees.I don't disagree but Clarko got you guys back into the top 4 in 2018. So I don't think the cutoff point for the final years at Hawthorn can be 2017 onward.
Fairy taleSending you an eHug brother. Some other guy dies on a cross today, so it could have been worse OK?

It’s not working with Clarko. We need to make a move asap.
What I am saying is that’s there’s more chance of getting a better player with a top 3 draft pick than one later in the draft . If we pick the wrong players well that’s another problem. But it you think late draft pick players are the go no wonder we are crapAre you suggesting that decent players can only be drafted in the top 3? We had plenty of top 3 draft picks running around out there today. I'm suggesting that more of them isn't what we need.
But it would be a nice way of finding out if he can make it...We would destroy W Dawson like we do all young players if we put him in the seniors.
He is not ready (not sure he ever will be tbh)
it’s a lot to do with the players, that’s just letting them off the hook scott free. The one thing I do know, it's that the issue is system and coaching and not entirely the players.
I think that if I was to have written an assessment of tonight's game it would be pretty similar. That's just scratching the surface though - almost our entire backline is substandard. That was truly disappointing, I don't think I have felt this angry, flat and depressed after the game in the near 50 years I have supported the club. Even the performances of the last five years didn't feel this depressing, it's hard to fathom that we have gone backwards despite all the top end talent we have drafted.
I'm probably not in the right frame of mind to go into everything that I think went wrong today (probably the last three weeks to be fair) but there are a few points I want to make:
- Caleb Daniel is not the answer, he is in terrible form and is a liability in defense and should be dropped. I think we need to move Sheezel back.
- It's time for Clarkson to make a real statement and drop Jy Simpkin, every lazy error he makes is deflating, and the team performance just drops away.
- Our midfield has looked second rate and uncompetitive the last few weeks and it coincides with the dropping of Phillips. I don't think he is our best midfielder, but at least he puts in an effort on the defensive side of the game.
- McKercher is weak, he shirks contacts and goes into the contest halfhearted, he needs to toughen up or we should ship back to Tassie.
like the song says “just for recreation sakes to pass the time away”Everyone's living the high life amongst their mates and they've desensitised themselves to results like this.

Yep I think it is strange that Scott was dropped when soooo many others are putting up horrid insipid performances…I think that if I was to have written an assessment of tonight's game it would be pretty similar. That's just scratching the surface though - almost our entire backline is substandard.
At least in the roles they've been assigned. Perhaps one, but realistically two better suited players are needed while the two worst performing members have to be dropped along with one other to make way for Archer.
We need a centre half forward badly. Maybe that's Chom (maybe not). It isn't Larkey. I agree that the kick that hit the post was just plain rotten but I think he was trying to create a bit of fighting spirit - it just didn't come off. I don't think it was lazy. He was denied a mark (how was it not paid???) and a free that seemed to sap him - prior to those he presented really well.
Scott is a distinctly more important member of the team than McKercher, Stephens or Tucker, even though he's been down on form in recent weeks. The latter two play like they're running training drills. McKercer is playing like he's in the wrong part of the field and he us totally unsure of what he's supposed to be doing.
I agree with your comment about Philips entirely.
Caleb Daniel probably got 6 or 7 possessions in the first 10 minutes today. We gained almost nothing from them. It feels to me like he's sent the side backwards - the players try to get the ball to far more often than they should and by doing so, they're missing better options while he seems to scuttle back into trouble or to sell somebody else into strife. Has to be dropped until he can be fitted into a viable game plan.
The problem with this is that when you're drafting top 3 you're always picking "best available", and you end up with a team full of forward running offensive midfielders and end up playing half of them out of position or trying to turn them into flankers or wingers. We don't need more of them, we need to start drafting more for need to build a team around the ones we already have. What I am saying is that’s there’s more chance of getting a better player with a top 3 draft pick than one later in the draft . If we pick the wrong players well that’s another problem. But it you think late draft pick players are the go no wonder we are crap
Agree with your thinking however if Clarkson wants to make a statement then Zurhaar should be dropped before Simpkin..That was truly disappointing, I don't think I have felt this angry, flat and depressed after the game in the near 50 years I have supported the club. Even the performances of the last five years didn't feel this depressing, it's hard to fathom that we have gone backwards despite all the top end talent we have drafted.

seems that’s the only thing the players have really take to heart.
Yep. It’s staring ppl in the face and was said during the press conference three times. We conceded 77 points from stoppage today - the most amount of points conceded from stoppage by any team in a game this year.
Next 3 worst:
GWS kicked 67 points from stoppage vs. West Coast in Round 4
Port kicked 64 points vs. Richmond in Round 2
Port kicked 60 points vs. Hawks last week
League average is 35.9.
That's a next level smashing at contest.
Lots could be said.
Only two thoughts/things from me:
- That's our biggest fixture of the year - our only marquee game. Players should have come out switched on and raring to make a statement, and they dish up our worst first quarter of the year, and then go on to deliver easily the worst performance of the year while everyone watches.
- Carlton are and have been shit this year - they haven't been able to score. In their last 10 games (going into last year obviously) they've averaged 72.8 points a game - the only game in which they were able to crack 100 in their last 10 was against West Coast last week where they put up 121. They put up 153 against us. Not only that, they did it without McKay and Kemp.
Inexcusable and embarrassing.
You areThe problem is you hamstring our soft cap with that move. $2m less before you can even sign a new coach and his team.
right. We can’t do anything.I reckon you could turn that into a couple of solid punk songs.
Sending you an eHug brother. Some other guy dies on a cross today, so it could have been worse OK?
At least he didn't try the "round the corner snap" when he took that last shot from deep in the pocket.I'd add Ben Brown to that group, one of the few having a crack in a North jumper.
I hate country music. Next weekend I am going to listen to Charley Pride CDs instead of watching North.Or a bad country one
What we need is a list manager who is competent in his job,he’s had had two jobs and they were at the worst two teams in the afl . What does that tell you. Anyone can see we lack kpp but for some reason our recruiting staff don’t see that. We have been in a rebuild for five years and getting no where but giving up our first draft pick for a player no one thought was better than pick 25 was and is a big mistake.
If you were around in 2007 you’d know North need to be eternally vigilant the AFL will fcku us like a chicken first chance they get, we need to be ready to go back to war if required
