Happy Friday nerds, time to once again talk about the free kick thing. Here's what's shaking...
View attachment 2231602
The Swamprats and the Demons lost their first free kick counts for season 39, doing down 10-15 to the Furies and 6-13 to the Bears respectively. This means that the East Siders have the only perfect record after three rounds after they knockd off the Roys 17-15. The Dragons are still undefeated as well with a win, a draw and a bye for their efforts. The Royals jumped a bunch of spots after their first win of the season as it was a huge one, 24-12 over the winless Wonders. Elsewhere the Old Boys pipped the Warriors 2-20 and the Gumbies also got their first win of the season thanks to a 18-15 win over the Bombers.
The Sinners, the Furies & the Vegans are the three teams where the qooyt & free kick results have matched each other, while the Warriors and Hawks are the only two teams where every qooty result has been different to the free kick result.
The Bears & Royals are getting the rub of the qumpiring green at home while the Wonders & OOFs cop it from officialdom at the Colosseum & Spotswood respectively. The Bears, Swamprats & Royals are making the most of favourable qumpiring while the Warriors are motching qooty wins in spite of suspect officiating, and the Hawks are squandering their chances to convert favour from the qumps with winning qooty games.
As for the Spoons...
Royal Crimson Azure was a direct beneficiary of the good fortune the qumpires gave his team, picking up seven frees for to join Hawk all-rounder PhenomenalV1 atop the Little Spoon standings on 14 kicks each. They are three ahead of Swamprat BloodySwan and another who got seven frees for in Warrior spudmaster, while the trio of cats_09 Irish BlueBagger & Scythe94 are all a further kick behind the Swan and the spud.
On the other side of the competition we have a three way tie for the Big Spoon lead, with last week's leader grumbleguts being joined by Gumby returnee nobbyiscool & The Scandinavian Bomber norway blue all on eight frees against. Four people are a conceded kick behind the leading trinity - eth-dog GWS Goose Phar Ace & Piggy Smalls.
Riveting as heck aye. Well hold on to that excitement like it's a goal post as we will take a look at round 4 an about a week's time.

The Hawks keep on keeping on in round six, maintaining their perfect record thanks to a resounding 21-11 win over the Royals, a result which was enough to see them win their first qooty match as well. The Bears are hot on their heels, taking down the Roys 18-12 to sit in second place with a 5-0-1 record, while a 19-15 victory over the Warriors has the Sin Citizens in third place. The Dragons are half a game further back in fourth thanks to their 16-13 win over the Gumbies, the bye saw the Demons drop two spots, while the Furies were the big risers with a three spot jump to seventh after edging the Bombers 25-23 and the Wonders notched their first victory of the season - a 21-19 win over the Old Boys.
Ophidian spice bag merchant Irish BlueBagger maintained his Little Spoon lead with a five free kick effort in round six, but the challengers are coming.
The number one contender is this guy. A heroically proportioned nine frees for has Scythe94 one kick adrift of the lead, while Pamcake1 picked up a half dozen to sit in third. cats_09 has slipped off the pace thanks to a solitary free in round six to now sit in fourth, while PhenomenalV1 & royboy2 round out the top five.
There's a new sheriff in the Big Spoon Saloon, as Bomber rookie WAbulldog conceded five frees in round six to take a one kick lead from Barrybran and Phar Ace who gave away three & two frees respectively. Former leader GWS Goose was not up in arms or wings or whatnot and did not concede a free, seeing the Gumbie drop to equal fourth place alongside grumbleguts Orange crush and Piggy Smalls
So that's round six in the book. What about round seven?
Apparently, I am lifting mine. Love the feel of squished nasal gristle between my knuckles - but I'm going the ball Umpire!I need to lift my thug game.

Hey there nerds and nerdettes, let's do some free kick madness.

Eleven out of thirteen teams remained in the same position on the free kick table from last week, but hoboy the change that did happen!
For the first time since round two, the East Side Hawks are not on top of the ladder! An 11-14 loss to the Furies, coupled with the Bears beating the Gumbies 12-10, saw the Vegans reach the summit after being in second place for eight rounds. Huge news indeed! Other results saw the Demons miss the chance to go second after losing to the Dragons 10-18, the Swamrats and the Royals play out a 15-all draw, the Roys defeated the Bombers 24-23 and the Warriors trounced the Wonders 17-9.
As for the individual gongs...
The Old Boys had the bye in round 11, so the Little Spoon lead that Irish BlueBagger enjoyed was in jeopardy. The luck of the Irish shone on the Corkman though, as Scythe could only manage one free kick to reduce the lead from three to two. Three kicks further behind sit Pamcake1 and your host (me) who gained four & six frees respectively, while cats_09 sits in fifth place after also getting a solitary free kick.
Three of last week's Big Spoon top five in Phar Ace Orange crush & Dingster picked up doughnuts in round 11, the latter due to the bye and the others due to being too nice. This cost the Roy the lead, as the four frees against that WAbulldog received sees the Bomber take a two kick lead. Meanwhile his teammate BoozedUP conceded five frees to sit in third place.
Seeya next week nerds.

The ladder-leading Bears are taking advantage of not having a bye yet but cementing their Silver Whistle lead. This week they beat the OOFs 12-9. Second placed East Side dropped a further two points behind thanks to an 18-all draw with the Swamprats, while the Demons remained in fourth with an 18-15 win over the Royals. The big movers in round 12 were the Warriors who beat the Dragons 16-13, their fourth on the trot. And at the bottom of the table the Gumbies upset the Furies 16-15 to rise off the bottom of the ladder at the expense of the Bombers who lost to the Wonders 11-15.
Now for the Spoons...
Another doughnut for Irish BlueBagger saw Scythe return to the top of the Little Whistle standings, his four frfees sees him take a one kick lead. Gold City stalwart Cadsky picked up a Michelle to jump into third place, one ahead of Pamcake1 & two ahead of cats_09 who both received two frees each.
The front two in the Big Spoon in WAbulldog & Phar Ace failed to trouble the qumpires in round 12, however they still retain their quinella. BoozedUP remains in third after conceding one free, but has been joined by ossie_21 who gave up three frees, and the two frees against from ossie's teammate Supercheapgiants sees them rounding out the top 5.
Tight races in all three awards as we steam into the final third of the season. Stay tuned for more of this banality.
