How come we literally never have our small forwards there to crumb the ball? We bomb it long, and when it isn't intercepted it seems like our smalls are in the other pocket. Hard to tell with the camera always zoomed in on marking contests, but it's often 3 opposition defenders who scoop it up

Probably nothing but our tall backs are our most in form players. He should get to come in v North and GWS, and any other Balta curfew games. Still, I don’t know why they wouldn’t try him up forward.

I’m preempting extreme frustration at our final team selection.

What is the deal with Yze and co.? All the players in the team basically got in by default round 1 (due to injuries) but now own their spot in the best 22 without earning it. We appear to be making less changes than in 2018.

I thought we were fast tracking development of our players…. But who?

Ross isn’t being made accountable despite being our most mature and experienced young player.

McIntosh is still running around in positions he has never played.

Short is still getting away with lazy smash it on your boot footy.

We’ve used 4 smalls forwards instead of 3 talls despite having 6000 KPFs on our list.

No genuine back-up ruck so I guess they’re hoping Nank has the durability of a Nokia 3310.

Steely Green, Banks, HRS, Dow, Mansell, Trezise… would be lucky to get a game at about 15 other clubs. Why aren’t these guys being rotated on form?

Alger should be getting a run in the forward line with 18 scoring shots in 6 VFL games.

Sims should be getting a run as 3rd tall/ruck. If not Sims, try Gray there.

Smillie should be in line for selection. I know he hasn’t looked great in the VFL but I’ve also watched Dow play 2/3s a season of AFL in 2024.

Kmac 2.0 should’ve been picked 4 weeks ago.

Clarke should be in the team. What are we waiting for? He played a full game and did well, he would shit on half our players getting games at the moment. Did Ashcroft even play a single reserve game last year after his ACL?

We’ve been smashed in 4 games this year but really 6 (both Melbourne and Brisbane took their foot off). The lack of changes to the team doesn’t pass the sniff test.

More melting to come this afternoon….

I think they played Sonsie as a half forward/mid in the VFL last week. Finally, some consistancy for the kid. I think that's why they have acknowledged him even though his numbers are down. Either that or they misspelled "Smith".

Yze aint about ringing weekly changes.
Development? Trainor, Lalor, Faull, Armstrong have all played from Round 1.
Steely Green, Campbell, Smith all had games. Trainor took Rioli's spot. Smith is the only small depth got games until Hugo returned.
Banks can play half back too.
Had a look at Blight, Gray for Balta.
Had a look at Bauer, Blight up fwd, back up ruck. 10 games exp between them.

Trezise has played 16 games.

Dow been getting selected by Yze Day 1 2024. He has improved.
The clubs just had the worst injury management in history. They're going to ease ACL players back into it.

Clarke, Smilie ~ more than happy with that management. Let them find their form in the VFL.
Alger's knocking on the door. MRJ been dropped. He will struggle to get selected again. Mansell is the indig story this dreamtime.


But I hope we use better back up ruck than Kmac. Sims be good.

Kmac 2.0 definitely IN. At last. My only beef is 5 mids all 186, 187.

He did a bit of ruck training yesterday, but looks like they still have Sims ahead of him for that role.

Long-term it will be interesting to see how all of the talls fit together. I like Gray as a key back, but I can only really find a spot for him if Gibcus fails to get back or Miller's form drops off.
