Pretty ungrateful bunch.
Can't say I understand it. Cost them nothing, has won everything with them, leaves without drama (on a personal level).

Seems ridiculous to me.

And there's a chance he'll come back before the end of his career.

It's a shame and I wouldn't have done it myself but what do you expect? He built his brand on being the childhood local lad made good and strung the fans along.
You have to laugh at the pearl clutching from some quarters who spent years slagging him off and are now going "how dare they" though.

What do you mean by strung fans along?

Went on for years about how it was his dream to captain the club but then ran his contract down and we got nothing for him. Gobbed at fans after scoring vs West Ham only to put in a career worst performance vs Man Utd the next week when news first broke he was off to Spain.

Ideally he shouldn't have come on at all but the other option was Quansah who isn't a RB and had a stinker last week

This is the biggest load of bullshit ever. He owes you nor the club nothing. He was signed to a set number of years, he fulfilled those years.

If you're that desperate for money, should've moved him on earlier.

So Spurs fans have no right to be angry at Sol Campbell leaving for nothing, much less go to a rival? Come on now.

In hindsight though, yeah we should've moved him on earlier if we knew he wasn't going to sign. Jack Grealish and Declan Rice did right by their clubs and gave them substantial transfer fees, as did Eden Hazard. If he signed a contract last year, said he was going to Madrid then the stick would've been nowhere near what it was. It was naive by the club to not be aware of Real's MO.

Got nothing for him? He was an integral part of two league titles and a champions league trophy. He also earned the club millions through promotions and merch.

Don't you think he deserves to explore a new challenge after nine years of service and delivering consistent success?

He hasn't moved to Everton or Man U on a free. It's not the same thing.

Sorry but it's not his responsibility to make up for the poor forward thinking of your football department. If you want to boo anyone, have a crack at them for allowing this situation to occur.

As I said, Trent had a contract with a set number of years and he's fulfilled that. Anger at him is completely misguided and unwarranted.

It's crazy to me that an academy product that's helped the club through a very successful era is now copping it from those that claim 'you'll never walk alone'. ****ing spare me.

I'd expect a bit of respect for someone who spent 20 years at a club, helped them win every trophy in football, and is leaving on good terms for the biggest club in world football.

If he was leaving for a domestic rival, it would make sense. He's not though.

Wenger copped boos from Arsenal fans in his last few years despite being the clubs greatest ever manager. Harry Kane heard it when he tried to force his way to Man City.

Domestic rival? Real are more of a rival for than say Man Utd these days.

End of the day its disappointing cause it distracts from a great season and I wouldn't have done it personally but the sanctimony on here is hilarious.

its funny cos i reckon in 18 months madrid will be sick of him anyways if they play him as a right back. thought he would be back on loan at liverpool but with all that vitriol, might not go back now.

You never walk alone if you are part of the club, he no longer is. A few boos are hardly going to break the world apart. Next level over reaction to this.

Was he not in a Liverpool shirt when they were booing him?

Are the players Liverpool have signed also traitors for leaving their clubs? And will the fans demand the club keep Nunez instead of a new striker because it’s the loyal thing to do?

Nah Madrid need him. Light on for defenders with midfielders in the back line at the minute and they were arguably short at the back before all the injuries.

Disagree entirely.
How you leave and what you achieve matters.

Reckon I booed Leigh Colbert back in the day. Bailing as captain. But never Ablett. He was integral in winning flags.
Think TAA should be in that category IMO. Key part in winning the 4 major trophies on offer for Liverpool and should be treated as such.
