I have no idea. I dont see 95% of what the Captain does. Neither do you.Do you think Steele should be captain?
I certainly don't. Was a terrible call making him captain again.

I agree about the chill factor. Obviously it's unfair to give Matteas the captaincy so early but I agree he's the one you'd pick for the future. Probably a year or two away still. Stocker is my guy, but im not sure if it's a good fit with the mental health stuff he has going on.Hate to say it guys and girls, but Wilkie is in a similar boat to Steele in his leadership style. Both are fine to have in our leadership group, but Wilk's has much of the same pitfalls as JS does. He's actually a pretty chill laid back guy, very much another nice guy who isnt threatening.
The only person who is a best 22 player who is different to our other leaders is Phillipou. The guy is a maniac on the track, is so vocal, so encouraging but also demands standards not seen since Rooey left.
If we want to shake it up, Pou is the one. Unfortunately for us, he is very young and puts a heap of pressure on himself to be the best. Who knows whether the burden of him putting the team on his shoulders each week would be too much for his development.

Let’s get him signed up first.Hate to say it guys and girls, but Wilkie is in a similar boat to Steele in his leadership style. They sent a whole heap of players off to the All Blacks leadership program a while back.I’d be keen to know how they are providing leadership opportunities to the young group who’ll drive us to our next flag( they should put a lot of effort into Garcia, Pou, Windy, NAS, Tauru, Travalgia and even bloody O Connell whose bloody tough as nails
Could also be the absolute making of him.....Hate to say it guys and girls, but Wilkie is in a similar boat to Steele in his leadership style. At the very least Wilkie offers more vocal direction on field. Steele is a lead by example type and his examples haven't been very inspiring this year (or last to be honest)I really dont know where our next captain is gonna come from. Moving to Wilkie is a step sideways, not passing the torch to the next gen.
That's a very good point, and one i hadn't really considered: the connection piece.Maybe in the future, but people stating Philipou is captain material I think are missing a lot of what the captains actually do. Pou is a very quiet kid and not super social. Apparently he has become a lot better at this over the year but GOOD captains have an inherent ability to interact genuinely with their team mates.
Issues with Steele stem purely from his impact on games these days which isn't as good as previous years, that's a fair criticism, but I think there's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes that no one on here is privy to. The question of "would handing the captaincy to someone else allow him to refocus on his game and recapture his previous AA level" is absolutely one of merit, but it really ignores any sort of relationship building that he likely excels at behind the scenes.
I like Windy, reckon he's grabbed that no. 2 locker with intention and wants to build something himself rather than wait to be led. That kind of intention is exactly what we need at the top.Club sent Nas - Owens - Windy and 1 or 2 others to NZ last pre season on leadership courses
No wonder Nas wants to move West, learned off the Kiwis!Club sent Nas - Owens - Windy and 1 or 2 others to NZ last pre season on leadership courses
