I didn't watch any of the toast v geebung game due to completely losing any interest in footy after an hour or so of that sh*tfest between the aints and dees played in Alice Springs.

That game had no more pressure than circle work, it reminded me of trying to watch one of those Sunday afternoon Brisbane bears non events at Carrara when mowing the lawn was infinitely more attractive than the so called footy!

Hey, you negative Nancies!!!
We're now cemented in the AFL top 15.

Massive achievement - many said it would be an uphill battle, but we've proven them wrong 😀🏆

Every chance to move up a spot or two by season's end too.

Onward to victory ✌️

Why is there always talk about the crows winning the flag when they smash a bottom 6 side?

I remember when our roles were reversed over previous years and no one ever gave us a chance because we struggled to get it done against the good sides.

But suddenly the crows are a massive threat.

They actually remind me a lot of us in 2017, where we smashed all the shit sides but struggled every time we played a top 8 team.

To be fair people talked us up in 2014 and 2015 too.

It was only after we repeatedly shat the bed that people became sceptical.

Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann has informed the club he is stepping down next month to join the AFL.
As the Herald Sun revealed on Saturday, Swann has accepted a role to become the league’s new footy performance boss.

A staff meeting at the Lions has been called for this afternoon.
At AFL House, Swann will play a key role dealing with clubs and AFL CEO Andrew Dillon and football operations boss Laura Kane on key issues including game analysis, match review, player movement and laws of the game.
Lions’ chief operating officer Sam Graham will step up as the interim CEO.

The 63-year-old, formerly a chief executive at Collingwood and Carlton, is ideally suited to the new role which takes in umpiring, MRO, player movement roles and communication with clubs.
Swann took over the Lions in July 2014 and over a decade built the foundations as the club began to retain key players and recruited stars including Josh Dunkley, Lachie Neale and Charlie Cameron.

The new position of Chief Operating Office will be 2IC and look after the following according to last Thursday's statement

The AFL Integrity and Security function will move from the General Counsel into the new AFL Chief Operating Officer portfolio.

That's all it said. However back on 2nd April the AFL announced they are looking for a COO and stated his/her duties a little broader.

AFL Chief Executive Andrew Dillon said the decision to bring on a COO was to bolster club experience on the Executive and play a lead role in driving the AFL’s strategy and ambitious growth agenda.

The COO will have oversight of the execution of the AFL’s Strategic and Growth Plans, relationships with the AFL Clubs as well key industry projects and marquee events such as Opening Round and Gather Round, to ensure the industry was aligned in maximising growth.

Experienced AFL General Managers David Grossman, Tristan Salter and Simon Kelleher will form part of the COO’s team.

This is why club CEO's Simon Garlick of Freo and Tom Harley at the Swans have be targeted.

Caro indicated Brendon Gale had been white anted by some executives at the AFL - my words not hers, but she gave that sort of impression, plus she did question if Gale really wanted to play a 2IC role after being the CEO at Richmond for 15 years.

3AW discussed the restructuring of AFL management on their Saturday arvo coverage.

Basically its Caro giving a history lesson for 4 minutes, 1 minute of the interview Dillion did on Friday morning with 3AW's Tom Elliot and then mainly 4 minutes of Leigh Matthews saying Laura Kane was a bad choice, had no history running men's footy, getting stuck into the AFL Commission and AFL executives.

Its worth a good listen to.

I'm not a fan of Caro's moralist crusades, but she does know and understand the politics of the AFL and the clubs, and whilst she can be hyperbolic sometimes, she understands the power plays well and explains the situation well. For about 30 seconds she says there has been blood letting and says all the meaty football issues have been taken away from Laura Kane and Tim Lane asks, how did it come to this?? She then explains it and puts the boot into a few of her regular favourite targets.
