Dear looks to still be building fitness. He's not getting to the contests and putting the pressure on, and is blowing hard after each effort.

Missed a huge amount of training and is only a 2nd year player so doesn't have the fitness base forgive that much time off.
Laid the second most tackles for BoxHill today.

Box Hill stats big win over Frankston so a few played well pushing for a spot in the team to take on the Crows down in Tassie

My son asked me today who our best player is - and I think with Day’s injury and Sicily’s injury/form - it’s Meek.

He has covered our midfield challenges by his dominance - that Gold Coast game was eye opening for me as to just how good he is
I don’t think Meek is our best player but his good games might have the highest connection with Hawthorn winning. Very important player.

Watson and Scrimshaw play if well and fit. Finn doesn’t and I’m not sure who else vacates. Probably one of Ramsden / Mitchell depending on preferred structure.

I like CJ as sub

No player really demanded selection at Box Hill.

Reeves was great but won't displace Meek. McCabe was fantastic but will look to build on that game. Hustwaite was good but lacked a bit defensively. Mackenzie was alright.

Dear is starting to build some form but looks visibly gassed at times. His preseason getting wiped out + losing some confidence really had a big impact.

Crows give you a lot of chances, something Lions couldn’t nail(8 goals from 60 inside 50’s 🤢) who should’ve won by 5+ goals.

We need to take our chances, and bring the heat early.

VFL - Round 11

Hustwaite: 33 disposals - 10 inside 50s
MacKenzie: 28 disposals - 5 marks - 6 inside 50s - 1 goal
B.MacDonald: 23 disposals - 5 marks - 3 tackles
Anderson: 18 disposals - 8 tackles
McCabe: 17 disposals - 7 marks - 4 goals - 3 behinds
Reeves: 17 disposals - 5 marks - 45 hit-outs - 1 goal
Serong: 17 disposals - 3 marks - 7 rebound 50s
Mraz: 15 disposals - 9 marks
Frost: 14 disposals - 6 marks
Dear: 9 disposals - 5 marks - 3 tackles - 3 goals
Scaife: 9 disposals - 3 tackles - 3 goals
Breust: 8 disposals - 2 marks - 2 goals
Hill: 6 disposals - marks
Blanck: 4 disposals

DNP: Uhr-Henry

If Dear has a great game today would we think he could replace Gunston rather than Ramsden?

Give Gunners a rest and with a look forward to structuring for Lewis when he returns.

Next 2 games at Launie gives the best pathway to get Dear ready and pumping. Going to be tough decision & will get tougher once Mitch Lewis is back

Dear seems to be back but if you watche dteh game, since seemed bit off pace even though he had 3 goals. May adapt lot better to AFL level.

He had 3 tackles..... 1 was a really good chase of an oblivious player and he got a goal. I think the other 2 were just grabbing someone after the ball hit deck in a marking contest.

He's getting there, but you could see after his first goal when he marked and ran into open goal that has was gassed.

One of the replies to Peatling's suspension has a point...

He got a week, Jai Newcombe got a fine two weeks ago

Not that I wasn't rapt that Jai got off...but I'll be ****ed if I can see much difference between them

****ing Chooklotto they've turned it into...

I suspect Jai got the "potential Brownlow medalist" discount guys like Cripps and Fyfe have got in the past.

would agree, no standouts at BHH, but Dear is genuinely starting to show glimpses. Still a long way from peak fitness though, easy to forget he missed pretty much the entire pre-season.
HH looked more effective than Mackenzie, Cam rock bottom on confidence since his injury.
McCabe looks like he is going to be a player, will be knocking on the door in 2026.
Reeves was great, but he is a VFL player.
Breust probably at the end, but I guess you never say never.
Anderson needs a HUGE amount of work on his fitness. Wonder if they will have the patience for him to develop it. He'd want to come back a lot fitter after the next pre-season.
Mraz will be great, but has been poor the past two weeks. Still, looks like he could be anything.
BMac, Serong, Frost and Blanck will be elsewhere next year.

Keays, Rachele and a resting Rankine are an elite combo. Impey, Mitchell and Hardwick will need to be on their best behaviour.
Any one of those 3 will be nervous af with the thought of Hardwick walking towards them before the opening bounce. Rachele isn't worthy to tie Dimmas boot laces & would nervously piss himself if Dimma went to him. I think he goes to Rankine, Jars to Keays & Shammy to Rashy.
This should allow Amon to get off the chain & do the frig as he wants setting us up to smash the crowbots
