Society/Culture Alex Pearce supports Palestine/promotes terrorism depending who you ask

Please point to anything that has been posted by Alex Pearce, or anyone in this thread, that has supported Hamas in any way, shape or form...
I’m sick of explaining this. I don’t care if they support Palestine - this is the normative position for a young person. The controversy is reposting kneecap at the height of their Hamas-flag controversy.

So your answer is... that there is no evidence of AP or anyone here supporting Hamas.

Glad we cleared that up.

Why do you think it is controversial?

Is it just the Hamas, Hamas. Hamas thing?
Or is there something more substantial to your POV?

Because Hamas are terrorists

According to International Law, occupied people are permitted to take up arms against their occupiers.

Terrorism, is using violence to achieve political goals.
That perfectly describes what Zionists have been doing for more than 100 years.
There's even supporters of Israel on these forums who venerate Ben Gurion because he foresaw that the Zionists would have to engage in further acts of terrorism to achieve their political goals.

And? Why is it so hard for you to stay on topic.

Fine, if some AFL player starts retweeting someone who openly wants to genocide Palestinians then go nuts. But until that happens it’s irrelevant.

Well they were doing that on October 7 but have been too busy getting their arse kicked since.
This one sentence sums up how little you understand the whole situation.

1. A terrorist attack is so far away from the definition of a genocide that they could almost be considered opposites in terms of warfare.
2. Hamas have been getting their arses kicked since long before this conflict. Terrorist organisations are only created by people who see no other way to stop getting their arses kicked.
3. Despite what you perceive as “arse-kicking”, Israel is well aware that its current actions can only result in an unprecedented level of terrorist violence against them in the future. Islamic extremism is a convenience to Israel, an evergreen excuse to expand greater Israel and to intimidate and attack regional rivals, such as Iran.
4. Those who fund, arm and organise attacks like Oct 7th are not to be found anywhere in Gaza.

That ridiculous outburst is unrelated to Alex having reposted a group who supports terrorism.

Yeah it’s stupid
Your insights just continue to win over posters in this thread. Why don’t you tell us about the slogans that Kneecap chanted at Glastonbury? That’s the real battleground. I’d at least like to hear it mentioned in Alex Pearce’s apology.

Why don’t you tell us about something relevant instead of repeatedly inferring that supporting terrorism is OK because Israel is bad

It's already been pointed out to you how spurious this line of reasoning is.
Cmon Gethelred. Fact: these people arguing with me want to talk about anything but the notion that, if you are a public figure, it’s probably not wise to repost people who are known for a controversy in which they were waving around terrorist flags in front of an audience.

I get we don’t see eye to eye on the conflict more broadly, but please. Back me up?

Like I said, your problem's in the details. It's why you've not attempted to define terrorism despite having been prompted to do so a few times, and you're criticizing an Irish rap group for showing support to terrorists.

Bear in mind, if someone was from anywhere in Ireland other than Northern Ireland, they were for almost the entirety of modern history in at least tacit support of anti-British violence, which - depending on your definition of terrorism - probably meets the bar for being in support of terrorists. Does that render the complaints of the Irish illegitimate to you?

Ghandi was considered a terrorist, so was Mandela, and so was Luther King. Does that make the causes they fought for illegitimate?

How about we change tack here. Can there be a legitimate use of violence in pursuit of regime change against an unjust government? How do you confront that government and get them to stop killing you without violence?

Then, once we actually know what we're talking about, we can actually address the issue of whether a rap group expressing support for such an act is a bad thing.

Nobody here thinks supporting terrorism is ok. I’ll condemn it when it’s relevant to do so. Alex Pearce spoke out about genocide. The genocide is being perpetrated by the Israeli armed forces, not anyone else. It’s you who keeps bringing Kneecap and Hamas into a discussion about Alex Pearce and a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

It is on topic.
Hamas are 'terrorists' because they dare resist Israeli occupation. Again, resistance is legal.
Israel on the other hand, has been committing acts of terrorism against Palestinians since day dot.

But let's not let facts get in the way of hounding an AFL player for supporting Palestinians, because 'hamas'.

Given I am now fielding questions about whether Hamas are really terrorists, you might want to reconsider that statement.

Well, if you think that mowing down crowds at music festivals, kidnapping babies, and parading the defiled, naked corpses of young women through crowds for them to spit on is simply a form of legitimate struggle then I don’t think we’ll find much to agree on.

According to people like you, what Hamas does justifies what Israel is doing.
Also according to you, what Israel does, does not justify Hamas' actions.

Why is that?

In 1947 Israel kicked 750000 Palestinians out of their homes. They slaughtered tens of thousands.
There is a documentary where Israeli terrorists brag about how they personally r*ped scores of Palestinian girls.

Why do you have double standards?

Pearce didn’t repost a controversial commentator who supports Israel.
