Autopsy Saints forget how to kick a ball and lose to Hawthorn.

Well no, I and others posted about sending in a few of the older guys for surgeries and playing kids.

If you win playing these kids it would mean more than towelling up Richmond with as much experience as possible.

They could beat us ala west coast with that experience.

You seem to be missing that point and you regularly have in the last few years about ensuring the quality of pick we have then winning nothing games playing guys who aren’t part of the future.

Let’s leave it at that.
Not missing the point. Just disagreeing with you and your wish of essentially fielding half of Sandy at AFL level.

The irony seeing posts glazing Tauru followed by posts like this. You cant have it both ways.

I just want to be in a position where either Sharp or Greeves are there for us.

Either might make it. Maybe it’s neither. But we just lack that genuine top 10 elite talent midfielder on this list.

Give me Collard over Butler
Give me Boxshall over Steele
Give me O’Connell over Webster
Give me Travaglia over Hill

Winning games with those guys in the side would mean more than rolling north or Richmond with the opposite guys playing.
Wouldn't do all of your suggestions however we see the green shoots of the young ones, we need to keep pumping games in to the kids.
Lyon made a great point about Hastie, poor turnovers, goylt caught ball watching and Watson a goal. Said he learnt from that and was excellent in the second half. Along the lines of you don't learn that type of play in the VFL.
So yeah we will have games like Hastie but the learnings for the kids are immense and some only in AFL.
Last year I didn't mind winning those last six games but we can't keep missing pure mids and pick up a Travaglia or a Wilson who, while are going to be excellent players aren't pure mids.
We draw level with Essendon and we are 10% ahead of them. Don't mind another win or two but honourable losses will do me mainly.

Evidently I can.

I want to play the kids from here on out in 2025.

I don’t see the need to see butler Webster hill. This version of Steele. Etc.

I want to see Travaglia collard O’Connell Barrat Dodson etc.

I know what I’ll get from the experienced group. I know they likely won’t be there when the good times come.

The kids? They might be. I’m okay with the beltings and wildly inconsistent performances for the rest of 2025.

We might just pinch a few wins however with those kids and that’s going to be worth x10 more then winning with Butler Webster etc.

I cant believe people are keen to trade out Marshall when we cant win a contested mark or even bring the ball to the ground in our forward line. The guy is a heart and sole player who hardly misses a game and with King being such an enigma
What are you trying to say about Marshall's ticker and his shoes, mate?

Sandy starts in about an hour if you want to see them. That's what that level is for after all.

Those two spots could also mean absolutely nothing. We have no idea. It's just guesswork.

Pushing this narrative that winning a few games is going to hurt our future is just a trolling attempt at this point.
It’s going to be really difficult NOT to win games with the draw we have coming up.
Absolutely bizarre that our FIXture had all these bottom teams at the end of the season, when we’ve played a couple of teams twice already.

100%
No reasonable person would suggest that playing those players is tanking.
We need to play them and we’ll finish where we finish.

It’s like he is talking to you.

Lyon said the key to keeping the bottom-four team’s spirit up was getting off the “emotional rollercoaster” of focusing on their win-loss record.

“There’s a bigger picture and there’s a bigger aim and we know that exists and you’ve got to keep working to it,” he said.

And again when talking about Hastie.

“It’s that experience learning, you don’t quite get that at VFL level”

And yet he's talking to you the multiple times he's mentioned about kids spending extended period of time at VFL level to develop so they can come into AFL level ready to compete.

Hall is a bright light, and to think the Hawks dropped him! (He was at Box Hill)
Was he actually a Hawks listed player? I thought just a Boxhill player, because there was some talk that Hawks were going to take him in the MSD if we didn’t?
Stand to be corrected.

But what a superb selection from (was it)Dalrymple?
May there be many more.

No reasonable person also could have watched last night and thought Steele shouldn't be playing.
Never mentioned Steele. You can’t take from the midfield. Nor would I suggest Wilkie.
Thought Steele was good last night.
I never suggested taking every senior player out. The kids still need some support.
But Butler, Hill, even Wood, absolutely. Clark I’m undecided about, but he’s still youngish. Websters probably done anyway.
Higgo played a lot better when Butler wasn’t there.

Yup was Box Hill listed and Hawks were looking at him if he fell to their pick. I believe he comes from a Hawks family. No doubt Mrs Mitchell has been sent to recruit him

Don’t think he’s got kids, so the crèche strategy isn’t going to work 🤣

The comment you were replying to listed him as one of the players going out for one of those kids.

It's always a balance and I think we've hit the right balance of youth/senority since the Dogs games. Especially when Hill is used as the sub role instead of a kid and Webster was only an inclusion due to Stocker being an unexpected out.

Yea I realise - but as with when you “like” a post, it’s not always everything in the entire post, just the main parts of it. I did agree to that post in the main, but I don’t believe we should drop either Steele or Macrae right now.
The others, totally. Let’s see more Boxshall, LOC again, possibly Collard for Butler.

It’s the senior players that need to go back to vfl and learn to compete. Outrageous to say that hill, butler and Webster somehow were the reason it was a respectable loss. That’s only true if the other alternative was a win.

No reasonable person also could have watched last night and thought Steele shouldn't be playing.
I said “this version of Steele”

So yes he had 15 tackles last night. He also had no ability to move with any thrust forwards. Hence his few centre clearances resulted in big up and unders when he had some space.

Windy Garcia Even Clark all tried to show some toe and take ground before releasing.

It’s hardly a massive call to say he has looked a shell of himself

Why is Armstrong not playing VFL, he has arrived in Melb?

Might need some time to learn to play the game to an acceptable level before you know, coming in to a side in the second tier comp, no matter how high one might be rated. Especially so when flying in from the other side of the world. Is to say, have a little patience, we're not that shit at our job.
