Speaking of which, when do they play that? Surely going to be a disadvantage for them having an extra game squeezed in amongst the final weeks left, compared to everyone else.

Speculation about the final round has GC playing a match Wednesday or Thursday, then another game the following Wednesday, then 9-11 days off. Shouldn't be problematic.

Probably haven't needed the needle movers yet just to fit in and find form. It's the games against the contenders where it will be needed.

Having not beaten a team for years (or won at a ground for years) doesn’t seem to matter much this year.

Adelaide can be reasonably argued to be the form team of the competition, and they’re playing at home.

It means nothing til we actually beat them!

Pies, Cats & Hawks currently have the wood on us & we tend to get outcoached by them.

Eh, Brisbane is a hard game despite being at home.

If Freo get 14 wins which is plausible they would be the favourite to miss due to their %

Dogs being two games behind a few doesn’t help them tho, and the Suns who knows now that they came off a belting.

Where it gets interesting is if one of those teams banana skins a game against a lowly ranked side.

We saw what happened to Freo after losing to Essendon late last year.

Well Zac Williams will easily kick the 30 that Owies used to get from handballs out the back.

Tom DeKoning is a walk up start for 30+ resting forward.

Fanta will kick 25+.

Motlop is the next Eddie Betts and could kick 40+.

Cripps kicks at least a goal a game out of the middle, more when he rests forward.

Elijah Hollands is good for 30.

Jack Silvagni coming back too. Probably kicks 25.

And you probably haven't heard of Ashton Moir.. but you will have in 12 months time. At least 30 from him.



Our biggest issue up forward will be that there's so many weapons but only one football.

I count 8 examples of a bottom-9 team beating a top-9 team. I assume that is some kind of record low. There’s also one draw.

It rises to 9 if you include the Bulldogs in the bottom section.

Or an advantage. Sometimes the break is not good.

My solution would be to play half a game, just a half. The result is almost a foregone conclusion anyway. It was kind of the AFL's fault with the silly Opening Round, GC shouldn't have an advantage or disadvantage over other sides.

If I was Carlton I'd be wanting to trade Curnow. Your reliance on Charlie and Harry is one of the many things holding you back.

It waa the first game back for Lewis, 3rd game back for Sicily and Scrimshaw. With the latter two getting back to their top quality form after injury.

Hawthorn are 5-1 in their last 6 with 2-1 against top 9 teams.

Lewis will play his 2nd game this week and in a game that is obviously a thousand times better conditions.

Doesn’t help Carlton are poor at moving the ball. They’re also an average contest team despite that being where all their eggs are.

Carlton are too one paced generally speaking, there is pieces but even then some are getting on with age too.

They probably missed the peak chances, and not getting depth cover soon enough, also not adapting to modern skillful teams.

I'm not down on the Hawks, I just don't think much has changed performance wise compared to months ago.

I’d say I agree. I think a day like that (Windy, rain) the two teams generally get brought back to the same playing field. There was still a big gap, and that also considers the Ken and Port success v Hawthorn recently.

The performance has definitely slowly changed compared to just over a month ago, when Hawthorn were comfortably beaten by Collingwood and Brisbane. Since that point Hawthorn have been 5-1 (2-1 v t9) and with returns of 4 best 22 players in the last month, 2 within the last week inc this week.

It would likely be expected to have more improvement to reach their best, with more returns, more time for returning players to find their feet etc.

I’m not worried and I’d be more worried if I were a Suns fan after the thrashing against Adelaide. Geelongs mediocre form (good enough to win against teams they should beat but not being enough to beat teams that are at a similar level). Dogs being 2 games outside the 8 and simply not beating top sides. (2 games against top 9 teams).

Yeah, I don't think anyone could accuse you of being worried. You're the most optimistic supporter I've come across on BigFooty from any club. NetworkNerd probably the most pessimistic. If you had children together they would be perfectly balanced.

That's why it's called a prediction. If you can't give any then I can't assess the accuracy, sorry.

For Geelong anything can happen, but if I had to make a prediction I'd say 16 wins, 4th and making it to a prelim. Under that would be underdelivering, above a pleasant surprise. We could easily lose to any 5th-8th team in a SF, but straight sets exits can never be dressed up. Nor could missing top 4 from here.
