We should offer Collingwood Lever and May for Naicos. Helps our rebuild and tops up their defence. Win-win.
I know I've said it a lot over the past 3 years but I've got a really good feeling this the year we get Sparrow and a future 3rd for Butters done.

Zero chance we’d offer lever an extension. He’s already contracted for 3 more year. In fact I’d say the club is shopping him. Spargo will be delisted for sure.
Derksen will quite possibly be just depth and not impact. But he’ll be free and provide some cover if needed.
I’d be keen to move Lever on. We’ll not get a first bit could ask for one of Norths early second rounders. Let’s face he looks almost finished especially if carrying any type of injury.

I don’t get why we need so many NQR talls clogging our list. Like what will Derksen offer that Kentfield / Johnston don’t?

We’ll have to replenish somewhat with key position stock. Possibly losing Lever Tmac Fullarton Hore. May probably only one year left. And some question marks on the likes of Jefferson Kentfield and Adams. We probably need some experienced bodies around.

Wouldn’t call Derksen experienced. Has he even played 1 AFL match?

Just feels like we like throwing mud at the walls to see what sticks in regards to talls.

I guess bigger bodied player. Not any other options I guess. We aren’t attracting a big name this year. So may as well get some back up. Surely he’s better than Fullarton.

Meanwhile Brisbane looking to bring in Oscar Allen and Sam Draper while picking up another top academy kid. Gulf just gets bigger every year.

Wish we went that hard after our flag to remain up top.

It is an issue that won't get fixed. Despite all the noise from AFL house about "equalisation", free agency has done nothing but entrench inequality. Top 4 clubs skim the cream while battlers cop crumbs.

JUDD McVEE (MELBOURNE)
Jon Ralph says:
“His contract will push back to the last round of the season now. The Demons are making it hard for him to sign just in regards to their form and morale and uncertainty over the coach.
“He’s had that contract in front of him for a full year. It’s not that he’s out the door, but it’s a challenge for them to try and secure him. There’s so many clubs that are interested in him.”

CLAYTON OLIVER (MELBOURNE)
Jon Ralph says:
Clayton Oliver just has no interest out there. I think he’d have to take something like a $500,000 pay cut (to move).
“It’s not that there’s a little bit of interest – there’s no interest in Clayton Oliver.
“I can’t see any of those clubs there that are saving bickies for the likes of Zak Butters next year would say: ‘Let’s try and invest $800,000 a year into him (Oliver) as well.’”

JAKE LEVER (MELBOURNE)
Jon Ralph says:
“Everyone’s interested in Jake, he’s certainly had no contact with any other club.
“He’s invested. It may well be he’s the next captain of this football club if Max Gawn decides ‘I just can’t do it anymore’.
“Big decision for Melbourne to make on Jake. Right now they’re saying ‘nothing doing’, but there a lot of clubs out there sniffing around him.
“I think the Western Bulldogs would be one crazy not to say: ‘We’ve got a first-round pick there, we’re desperate for key-position strength, what about a first-rounder for Jake Lever?’ And you’d have to consider it.

If anyone offers a 1st rounder for Lever take it and run.

If we can get a 2nd we take it and run. Way over rated.

Doesn’t take the game on like Hibberd did, gets smashed by players like Rankine, can’t play midfield and we have AMW in waiting ready to step up.
Think this is a bit hyperbolic.

Prior to this year we was defensively excellent, and I have distinct memory of him taking the game on with some incredible kicks from half-back.

Granted, he's had a pretty bad season this year. I wonder how much of that is due to injury, lack of pre-seasons and the general decline of the whole team. Possibly he's also mentally checked out having decided to leave a while ago.

I'd like to keep him, but also won't be too devastated if he goes. Really hope AMW bounces back well from his injury.

Take what we can get for Lever and run.

Seems we're stuck with Oliver unfortunately. Should have gone all in on trading him previously if the interest was there.

Basically we should trade the following:

Lever and May for Sam Darcy and Ed Richards

Petracca for Wilkie and Wanganeen-Milera

Petty for Dawson and Thilthorpe

McVee and JVR for Harley Reid

Oliver for Noah Anderson

Langdon, Sparrow, Spargo and Tom McDonald for Sam Taylor and Connor Idun

Trade Viney and Salem to Essendon for our first rounder back

on trade our first rounder + admin for Geelong’s

2026 best 22

B: Wilkie - Taylor - Idun

HB: Wanganeen-Milera - Turner - Rivers

C: Dawson - Langford - Richards

HF: Chandler - Thilthorpe - Pickett

F: Melksham - Darcy - Fritsch

R: Gawn - Reid - Anderson

I: Windsor - Bowey - Lindsay - Howes - Mentha

Coach: C Scott

Are you thinking Geelongs first rounder won’t make best 22?

I’m never fully at ease with these hypotheticals unless on position is taken by [first round draft pick]

Time capsule thread is the go for more.

Big ticks for me on the Melbourne Dumpster Fire Demons front: ladder position spot on (we might end up worse tbf :$ ), jinxed Oliver for the 2nd straight year, Goody, Green and Lamb all gone looks promising. LFG
